Jim
has been living and painting in San Francisco for over 30 years. He painted his
first painting at age 10. He went on to obtain his BA degree in Fine Arts from
Ohio State University (1969), after which time he moved to California and began
his painting career.
Jim
has always strived to paint as real to life as life itself, and the term
"pure realist" applies to him. He pays a great deal of attention to
color, tone and form, and likes to think of himself as basically painting light:
as it is affected and played upon by various textures before it is reflected
back to the eye for the viewer to see. In this way he perceives the world and
life as an infinite plethora of color & textures! Above all Jim finds
his greatest inspiration in nature and the beauty and "spirit" he
perceives in all things around him. It is his life’s work to record it in his
art and his joy to be able to share it with others as his art finds its way into
their collections.
