Kieran
Evani
Name: Kieran Nicole Emanuelle Yathour
Age: 22 (m02/d27)
Position: Mage Trainee, 3rd year
Gifts/Focus: Bardic Talent- Weak, Mage Gift- Master Potential, Mindspeech-
Limited (requires strong bond to person)
Appearance: Kieran stands at a meager height of 5' 3" with absolutely no growing
yet to do, at least height wise. Her small height is matched with what seems to
be an equally small build. She's lean, to a point of seeming frail, with a very
narrow waist and hips. Her shoulders would never be considered broad, but she's
got some measure of strength to her. She's not exactly well endowed, on the
smaller size really.
Her hair is a very dark black, falling in curling waves down to her midback, and
her eyes slant just barely. Eyes of a dull gray, rimmed by dark, thick lashes,
are often curious, bright, and shining with an expression of any emotion she
feels. Some say that the eyes are the window to the soul, and hers certainly
are. Should she ever completely master being able to mask any emotion she
experienes, her eyes would always give it away. Her skin is light tan, if a bit
darker over her nose and cheeks from always being outside with clothes on. High
cheekbones, a slightly pointed chin, and thin eyebrows give her a barely exotic
look. Over all, she's got a gypsy-ish appearance to her.
Personality: She's energetic and mischievous, though not as much of a thieving
trickster as some may consider her. To those she is friends with, Kieran is
friendly and utterly caring, if dense sometimes. To those she is not friends
with, or doesn't know well, she's usually absetminded and more than a little
indifferent. Her sense of vengeance is almost as strong as her sense of family
and kin, so one should always watch out if she's to get even with you... or on
the warpath.
However, those she considers "bloodkin" and "soulkin" are more important to her
than life, limb, and country. Those people she will go to the ends of the earth
for, and not only face down a raging drake, but is willing to give up her life
and eternal soul for. Thus, it's very rare that she will -ever- declare someone
such a kin.
Short Life Story: Kieran... or Kieran Nicole Emanuelle Yathour, as her full name
goes, is the fifth daughter of a very large family among a well sized clan. The
clan itself is as close to gypsies as Valdemar, and several of its surrounding
countries, would see. The worst of them are poachers, thieves, tramps, and
scoundrels. The best of them are performers and loyal laborers, with of course
the occasional craft talent thrown in. Her family, though not as poor in morals
as many in the clan, did follow some of the thieving and trickster ways,
unfortunately, but Kieran learned at a young age that it wasn't exactly the best
of things to follow. Thus, though she can pick a pocket and use slight of hand,
she very rarely does. Most often it's for jokes, or to prove a point.
Herself, she followed more in the ways of certain trades within the clan,
topmost of those being performance. She's been doing contortion since she had
the coordination of limbs to try, and thus became rather adept at them. She can
sing and dance, and play an instrument or two... well only one, but she claims
more than that. She's always enjoyed the musical and storytelling aspects of
performance more than anything. Other talents include trick riding and trapping,
but most often she sings and dances. That was, incidentally how she ended up
heading to Haven. She saw a bard perform at the age of fifteen, and from that
moment knew within her heart of hearts that she wanted to be one. So, at the age
of sixteen, she finally ran across a Herald while doing some trick riding at a
horse breeding farm, and talked him into searching her for Gifts. And she
certainly did have Gifts, just not what she'd expected and wanted. Though she
did have one of the bardic gifts, and only one, it wasn't what was meant for her
and wasn't enough to get her into the Bardic Colligium. Her strongest Gift, of
the three she possessed, was the ellusive Mage-Gift.
She travelled to Haven to attend the Colligia anyway, hoping that perhaps she
could be a Mage-Bard, though it was apparent that she'd likely only end up as a
Mage anyway. After all, her only bardic gift was Talent, and it wasn't near
strong enough to merit a double study; the Mage Gift needed training much more.
Kieran has now been living at Haven for around three years. Though initially she
was terribly against the thought of becoming a mage instead of a bard or
minstrel, she eventually came around. In fact, though much of her free time in
these past years has been spent listening to bards and attempting to learn some
of what they are willing to impart to her, she takes quite an interest in her
craft and its history. What books she owns consist of magery or famous, and
not-so-famous, mages in the world's past. She's been rather surprised, of late,
to find that her natural skills at magery seem to lie in combative magics.
Family:
She has not seen or spoken with the majority of her family since her arrival in
Haven those years past.
However, one other sibling has escaped the clan as well, and is currently in
Haven.
Gira Laramie Stacy Yathour - 20 - Ammatuer trickrider/apprentice horse-merchant/ammatuer
carver - Realized how utterly boring it was when her elder sister left, and how
much of a bossy bore Bella was without Ki to be around to take the brat's guff.
Thus she apprenticed herself to the first honorable horse merchant she could
find, and has been working for the man ever since. She still trick rides, and
helps the man to manage things in Haven, where he owns a not-quite-big house
with his family. He suspects that, as none of his children have any affinity
with animals at all, she will take over for him when he retires. She regularly
visits Kieran at the Collegia.
Laurie Karen Marru Yathour - 24 - Professional Thief - writes occasionally, but
never with an indication as to where she is, as Ki is now living among the
white-coats. Has threatened, repeatedly, in her letters though that she will one
day give up her life of theivery and make an honest trade with Kieran. Relayed
the news to her just last year that her twin brother, Graum, died from a
terrible fall during a roofwalking run.
