Short Life Story: Kalhin is half Shin’a’in from his mage father and half Valdemaran from his Bard mother. Both his parents died while traveling, a little before he turned fourteen. He belongs to the Tale’sedrin clan but left after his parents died to properly say good-bye to them at the burial site. He knows how to sing, and to play the flute and lap harp. His mage gift started showing after he left and strange things happened cause he couldn't control it. When he came to Haven, his gift was blocked for a while so he would not be a danger. He has since gained a measure of control over his gift. He brought two battlemares to Valdemar from the plains, but sent one of them back, and takes good care of the remaining one, Devil.
