As Maureen...
As Mark's Mom...
12/23/00- Mat. (Maureen)

I was SO excited to see Haven as Maureen, I love her! Her Over The Moon was so funny, very spastic. I love the way she says "Diet Coke..." very musical and pretty. And the fact that she said "Moo like you've never mooed before!" made me so happy :) And her go to hell in La Vie Boheme is so hysterical! Her Take Me or Leave Me with Dana Dawson was beyond amazing, one of the best Take Me or Leave Me's I've ever heard. Her eulogy for Angel made me cry. It was so good. I love it when Maureen's eulogy makes me cry. (Maggie's doesn't Stefanie's doesn't... sigh) She was so cute in Goodbye Love "...you bit my tounge!" All in all, Haven is a FABULOUS Maureen and I'm glad I got to see her.

So Haven is probably my favorite Mark's Mom ever. Her first Voice Mail is great--she looks so flustered over "the very loud beep." She's wonderful as the Christmas Bells junkie, and she's always fabulously obscene during La Vie Boheme, and her solo during La Vie Boheme B. It's great. Her other two Voice Mail's are hysterical as well. Haven just rules!

Well, in a role that Maggie did well in I think Haven is wonderful. I *LOVE* her Mark's Mom. She's so... caring, as well as clueless... it works well. She's very funny. Everytime I listen to my OBC and sing along ( yes I sing the female parts, you should HEAR my Out Tonight :-) I sing it the way Haven does. I love how she speeds up, "So let her be a lesbian..." hehehe, it's so wonderful. :-) I also love her homeless chick because she looks at the audience... which is great and enjoyable. In La Vie Boheme, she is fabulously sexy as well. All in all, Haven is wonderful in this role!

First of, before I write this little review I must confess my prejudice, as I am in love with Maggie Benjamin and do find it hard to see anyone else in this role. HOWEVER... in close second place is Haven. I like how Haven plays the role unlike any other Maureen I've seen/heard. I will agree that Haven has more emotion in I'll Cover You: Reprise, and that's cool because it's different from other Maureens. Her Over the Moon is less polished (and that's the way she plays her Maureen... unpolished. But she plays the role as though Over the Moon would be unpolished) and while I'm not totally with her on the interpretation, it's her's and not mine, and it works well for her... :-) I enjoy Haven's Maureen very much. -Ryan
