| Advocating for Public Policy Change |
| Hi! Advocating for Public Policy Change (formerly known as the Legislative Education Information Project of Washington County) is a dedicated group of self-advocates of all ages with disabilities. Funded through a grant from the Ohio Developmental Disabilities Council, APPC members are committed to educating themselves and others about the legislative process and how they can affect public policy. Through their activism, they have held public informational community forums on issues such as Waiting Lists in Ohio, the Americans With Disabilities Act, accessibility, employment, Medicaid buy-in issues, as well as theTicket to Work/ Work Incentives Improvement Act. Members learn to access their local, state, and federal legislators through letter writing, phone calls, faxes, and e-mails as well as face to face visits. APPC has sponsored trips to Washington D.C. and our state capital, Columbus. APPC has also sent members to trainings focusing on leadership skills and diversity tolerance. APPC welcomes anyone who may have an interest in learning about legislative issues that affect people with disabilities.
