- 1998  Report, September-December -     (by Alain & Rita Haudenschild)

A. The Church: (parttime assignment)

January: Attending the Wednesday evening home group at Evangelist You`s place.
Teaching two people the discipleship-course Survival Kit 1
March: At the deacons- und coworkers meeting it was decided, that I should be given the
responsibility for the discipleship training in the church. Two more students begin studies with Survival Kit 1. Start to preach at the bible schools chapel time again.
May: The Wednesday home group switches its meeting place to our guesthouse location. It
was decided that Alain should lead the group with some female coworkers. I definitely
join evangelist You`s evangelistic hospital ministry with preaching in Mandarin, singing in Mandarin / Taiwanese. Rita begins to meet with four female dentist assistance worker again introducing them into the bible by using bible stories to explain its idea..
June: Despite a prior agreement that Rita, due to Jonathans needs would not host the home-
group and also not attend the group meetings this issue is brought up again. After an
evaluation of interests in the group Alain is seeking for better material in Taichungs
bible bookstores. In this time four discipleship-students finish their course. Two of them never did their homework well At a Sunday service there was church prayer for all of them. Graduation of some students at the bible school. End of this terms chapel- time ministry.
July: During these weeks at the mission center in Taichung the home group meets at Evan- gelist Yao`s place again, under the lead of evangelist Yao`s caring wife Christine. Dis- covery: My preferred discipleship-material in Taiwan isn`t at stock anymore.Sold out!
August: A new program with new books for a more bible-focused teaching was set up. Due to the groups composition (mainly female attendees from the hospital) their close relationship to Mrs. You and the nurses need for counseling, Alain felt it is time to step-down from this homegroups leadership into an adviser role. This was accepted and a nurse who formerly attended the Taichung Grace Chapel cell group meetings took over.
September: English-Teaching Ministry with Jerry Brewer at Pulis Senior High School started.. The goal was to invite students to church and to introduce them into Christianity. Besi- de the biweekly class-hours an English bible introduction course at church was offered. Begin to teach Ephesians at the home group meeting. Again invited to minister to the students in the Puli Bible Schools chapel-time.
October: Despite some interest from the students of Chi Nan University to attend the disciple- ship training course Survival Kit 1 their tough timetable didn`t allow it. There are also some other Christian training courses offered at the campus. For the time being they seem to go along well without further support from the churches side.
November: Preparation for the evangelistic campaign in December in cooperation with the hospital and the Ailan Presbyterian Church.
December: While in Singapore on holiday I meet a willing man to sell me the wanted disciple- ship material to Taiwan. Further preparation of the evangelistic evenings; Dec.18.19. Distribution of invitations. New contacts. Short Christmas message in Mariba Presby- terian Church while attending the festive Christmas service of this aborigine village.

Due to an invitation from the Sunday School preparation to introduce Survival Kit 1
in the church's Teenagers group.
