The
following photos were all taken at a previous apartment we lived
in for about a year, it seemed very active. We don't know much about
the buildings history but the building itself was built in the late
1800's and was converted to apt's much later. The area is one of
the oldest part of the city and during the Victorian age was an
upper class neighborhood.
During our year we experienced
many odd events. Things being turned on and off, doors open and
closed, doors locked when there were no locks on them, items being
taken and placed in odd locations, knocks, lights flickering,
etc. Much of the activity seemed to come from the 2nd room/laundry.
This was a really small room, mostly used for storage. A few times
I heard the door handle to that room moving as if someone was
turning it slowly, on one occasion I was standing in the kitchen
and actually saw the door handle move. Another instance I had
left the door open and I saw it slowly being opened and closed,
not tight enough to make the lock click. What seemed to be a woman's
hand and forearm once materialized. I often heard around 3 a.m.
the sound of a bouncing ball on a wood floor coming from that
room but the room was carpeted.
Things were often taken only
to appear later. Once I lost my glasses, I spent all day hunting
for them. A friend came by in the evening and we were sitting
in my living room talking. I was on the floor and jokingly said
'maybe our ghostly guest took them, if so can I have them back
please.' We chuckled and I adjusted my position on the floor and
right beside my hand was my glasses. They were not there previously
as the floor was clean. My husbands wallet was taken at one point,
it's never been recovered.
The most bizarre unexplained
event in that apartment occurred one late winter evening. At that
time my husband and I were smoking (I've quit since, he's working
on it) and we often smoked outside on the balcony. We had just
come in and were taking off our coats while continuing a debate
about some trivial topic. I had my back to the fridge and my husband
was standing in front of me to my left. As we went to go to the
living room I found I couldn't walk because my braid (which was
waist length at that time) was inside the freezer to almost 1/2
way up the braid. The handle to the freezer was on my right side
(from my back), I couldn't reach it, my husband had to walk around
to my right to help remove my hair. He couldn't have reached the
door from where he was standing, neither of us heard the freezer
open or felt any cold draft. We tried several times over the next
week to repeat the event but could never do it.
