A house in Lexington, Kentucky, was very haunted. No one knew the identity of the ghost but they certainly knew it was around. The most telling sign was the clomping of footsteps traipsing up and down the stairs. Sometimes a loud crash was heard from the kitchen as if someone had knocked over a cupboard full of crockery. And investigation always proved no damage -- nothing broken or out of place. No one had seen any kind of apparition.

The family who occupied the house was obviously dealing with a poltergeist haunting. But one night all that changed! And all the rules about "being a ghost" were thrown out of the window as well. Among the occupants of the house was a teenaged girl. Although she was somewhat unnerved by the supernatural events in the house she was never afraid of being alone in her room. So far the ghost had not invaded her territory. One night she was just about to go to sleep when she had the sudden feeling that someone, or something, was watching her. She opened her eyes and looked toward the foot of her bed. A dark, hooded figure stood there. The girl screamed and the apparition fled to the closet. In a panic the girl sprang out of the bed, ran to the closet and tried to slam the door, but it felt like a heavy object on the other side pushing the other way. She finally got the door shut. In the meantime, her screams brought the rest of the family running. When they arrived they were greeting by a loud pounding from inside the closet. Something inside trying to get out. "I got a ghost in my closet!" the girl screamed.

Of course, her parents didn't believe her. He father thought that there had been a very live intruder in the room and, by some incredible luck, his teenaged daughter had trapped him in the closet. The police were called and they arrived a few minutes after. The pounding inside the closet continued even as the law, their pistols drawn, prepared to open the door and arrest the intruder. The pounding became louder. "Police! Open up and come out with your hands up!" The pounding stopped. There was only silence. "Come out! Now!" Still nothing. Then the door opened a crack. The officers tensed. Slowly the door swung open to reveal.... Nothing! Of course a through search of the closet was made. It was quite obvious that the only way in or out was through the closet door. Whoever, or whatever, had been trapped in the closet, however, had escaped in a way that no mortal could have escaped. The only other way out of the closet was directly through the thick, undamaged wall!
