| A group of young boys, decided to cut school one day, and spend the day in town. Causing havoc among the locals, and getting into some sort of mischief. I should mention, that this was no little town. It was a major city. One of the boys found himself alone. He wasn't worried about being lost, since he had spent numerous times alone in this city before. He was walking down one of the side streets, when a store front caught his eye. Standing in front of the window, he was amazed at the items he saw. He went in for a closer inspection of all these treasures. Upon entering the store, he noticed that he seemed to be alone. Most boys would continue looking over their shoulders, and they started cramming items into their pockets. This did not cross his mind. Standing by the register, his eyes settled upon, what seemed to be a deck of cards. "Do you like them?" he jumped at the sound of the voice. "Yes sir. What are they?" "They are call Tarot" "What are they for?" "To tell the future, to see into the past" the boy finger through the cards. Looking at the pictures. "Can anyone do it?" "Oh anyone can learn to read the cards, but only a few can really interpret their true meaning" The boy began to thumb through the change he had in his pocket. He found that he barely had enough to cover the cab fare home. "How much are they sir? The cards that is?" He waited for the voice to respond. "I'll tell you what? Just put whatever you have, by the register. You can have them?" The boy didn't hesitate. He put all his change down on the counter, grabbed the cards, and ran out of the store. He no sooner got outside, when he realized that he knew nothing about these cards. There was no instructions, to tell him how to use them. He turned around, to go back into the store. But the door was locked. Upon further inspection, the windows were all covered, with old newspapers. He searched the window, until he was able to see inside the store. The store was empty. Nothing. All the racks, and shelves were bare. This did not seem to faze the lad. He had his prize. As he was thumbing through the cards, he glanced down on the sidewalk, and saw a five dollar bill, which he quickly picked up. |
