This is the deal about
Magnolia Lane Plantation. I saw awhile back on The Scariest Places on Earth
where a family stayed over night to investigate paranormal activity. This is
the story they gave on the show and here's the reality also.
Alan Robson, the host of the show, fed us a story about the house. They said
that the house was an old plantation and during the Civil War it was taken
over by the Union army and was used as a hospital. Also it was used as the
home of a major. I'm sure they said his name, but I can't remember it. They
went on about how the major was such an evil man and that he tortured enemies
by impaling them on the posts of the front gate, hanging people form what they
called the "dying tree", leaving prisoners in the slave quarters and
letting them die there without food and/or torturing them, blah blah blah. On
the show were various psychics, mediums, voodoo priestesses, etc. Mimi was one
of them. I met up with her shortly after the show aired. This is the truth
that she shared with me. First off, she didn't give me specifics, because she
said that the family had a lot of secrets and she doesn't feel it's right to broadcast
the family's dirty laundry all over the place, which I can definitely respect.
What Mimi did do for me is set the record straight about some things. Mostly,
the whole thing is played up MUCH more than is actually there, you know, the
whole Hollywood syndrome. The fact is though, that the house is haunted, there
are definitely presences there, no matter how played dup it may have been.
Mimi also said that there is no major. That was all a bunch of hokey stuff
that they wanted you and the family participating in the thing to believe. She
said that basically what happens is the group fear phenomenon. Which is
essentially this for example, a group of kids playing with a oujia board and a
book falls off of the shelf. It's mind over matters, every one has psychic
abilities, when people get together, subconsciously they can make things
happen, or their minds start playing tricks on them so that they're all
hearing the same thing. Weird, I know. Never the less, this is what I gathered
from Mimi. The house was basically abandoned as is. like the family was in
such a big hurry to leave, newspapers were left about, the kids toys were like
the kids left them when they were playing, etc. One of the rooms, a bed room,
was a source of a lot of repressed feelings Mimi said. It harbored a lot of
anger, resentment, pain and death. So I don't know what actually happened,
like I said, she wouldn't elaborate. However, it isn't really in the New
Orleans area like they said. There is no bayou in the front of it, like they
made it look (as in they had to get there by boat). Mimi did say that the
people aren't just finding something spooky and making a show there with a
bunch of made up stuff. They are legitimately trying to find out if it is
haunted, but they're also trying to make a TV. show. So that's the truth
behind Magnolia Lane Plantation. The current status of it, is that it's
privately owned by the family still, I think, but at any rate it is privately
owned. The family lives on the property but not in the house. They don't
really go in the house, but they have made improvements to the house to keep
it around for posterity (i.e. central air). If you'd like to know more, please
e-mail me and I'll try to get back to you. Also, the one other thing I
forgot to mention, when Mimi went to the plantation, she was there for about 2
and a half hours going through the house, telling them all the things she felt
and sensed, etc. On the actual show, she was on there for about maybe one
minute, she said they didn't like the things she told them. So that would be
why. They took the bits and pieces that would fit for what they wanted on the
show. |
