| Thanks to all of the mud in the trenches, gangrene was very common. Many solders had feet amputated because of the infections.
Shell shock (now known as post traumatic stress disorder) was common for solders who endured long bombardments. Shell shock wasn't understood at the time and upon returning home, some solders were sent to mental facilities. |
