As Americans we believe that people in positions of power or prestige know something we don't.  That somehow by being in that elevated status they gain a sort of knowledge that is both profound and enlightening.  What if they were wrong?  What if scientists, politicians, entertainment stars, and educated people could be wrong?  What if their intelligence is fake, false, or simply an image created to make themselves feel better and us, lower peoples, worship them as intellectual deity type figures?  NNNNNAAAHHHHHH...that could never happen.
