As we are beginning our school year, we will be working on the Presidential Fitness Test.  This includes the mile, sit-up test, sit and reach, pull-ups/push-ups, and the shuttle run.  We will be doing this mixed in with other activities.  We will try to get outside as much as possible, weather permitting.
ThisFall we are gearing up for the Presidential Fitness Challenge.  It includes the mile run, sit-ups, pull-ups, sit and reach, and the shuttle run.  We do this test twice a year, once in the Fall and again in the Spring.  As weather permits, we will be going outside to condition for the mile run and start working on our pacing so the students can figure out what works best for them to achieve their best times.  We will be working on our sit-ups and push-ups throughtout the year by doing them everytime they come to class.
The students will be having class 3 times a week for 30 minutes each time.  The students need to have proper tennis shoes or they will not be allowed to participate.  The 4-6th graders will be getting 5 points a day for participation in class.  Depending on if they are doing all their stretches, sit-ups, and involved in the activities will depend on if they get the full 5 points.  Most students will receive the full 5 points everyday. If your child is sick or needs to sit out of class, please send a note explaining the problem and how long the child needs to sit out.  Please don't just tell you child to tell me because I need documentation of the request.  Thank you and if you have any questions, please feel free to email me or call me at school.
