Beginning the Journey to Present at
PRIDE 2002 World Drug Prevention Conference.

Beginning the Journey Diversity Presentations will be hosting a workshop and exhibiting at the PRIDE 2002 World Drug Prevention Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio from April 10th to 13th.  PRIDE Youth Programs is the nations oldest and largest peer-to-peer drug and violence prevention program.  This year marks their 25th Anniversary, and this conference will be the biggest and most exciting event in their history!

Drug-free youth and adults from around the world have accepted the challenge to make a difference in their communities. Now, they come together and celebrate their impact on the world.  PRIDE 2002 will be a fun filled, educational, drug-prevention conference. Attendees can expect to join thousands of individuals from around the world assembled to discover the latest strategies in the prevention of drug abuse and violence. They will be challenged by experts to take on new strategies, continue their current efforts and make the world the safe place it should be.

Beginning the Journey will be presenting their own brand of violence prevention in the workshop Beginning the Journey to a Hate Free Tomorrow.  This workshop focuses on the individuals power to end violence by recognizing the effects of hate and taking action to end personal biases and hate motivated behavior.  Attendees will view a portion of the film Journey to a Hate Free Millennium and participate in activities that will help to illustrate the impact of hate and the impact of understanding and acceptance in our society.

This workshop seeks to raise awareness of the destructive powers of hatred and violence in our society and to inspire participants to set out upon a journey toward a world defined by compassion, peace, and hope.  It relies on open-ended questions and interactive learning experiences designed stimulate thought and dialogue on the effects of hate and the path to solutions.  The program also provides participants with the tools they may choose to employ in their own lives to affect personal changes or to initiate changes at the school or community level.  Visit

PRIDE Youth Programs Presentation a Huge Success!

Beginning the Journey Diversity Presentations presented a  workshop and exhibited at the PRIDE 2002 World Drug Prevention Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio, from April 10th to 13th.  PRIDE Youth Programs is the nations oldest and largest peer-to-peer drug and violence prevention program.  This year marked their 25th Anniversary, and the conference was an exciting event for all 4,500 youth and adults who attended!

The exhibitors table was a huge success, and
Beginning the Journeys own Cassie Nickerson, found herself meeting people from all over Ohio, the U.S., and even some conference attendees from England and Chile!

The Beginning the Journey to a Hate Free Tomorrow workshop was attended by youth and adults alike who were interested in finding out more about our program.  What they didnt expect was to encounter a presentation that would impact them personally and contribute to their own growth and self exploration.    The workshop was a huge success!  Our workshop attendees had only positive feedback, and we appreciate those who stopped throughout the week to see our work.

Quite a few our new newsletter subscribers signed up at PRIDE 2002, so wed like to say thank you for your interest in our program, and we hope to see you at next years PRIDE World Drug Prevention Conference in Pittsburgh!
