Family_Values_Tour_2001
Background -  the Family Values tour stated in 1998 with a tour  which included Orgy, Rammstien, Limp Bizket, Ice Cube, and Korn. the tour continued in 1999 with Filter, Limp Bizket and Staind. This year saw the return of Staind, aswell as New comers Linkin Park, Stone Temple Pilots, Static-X, and Spike 1000. Tickets - $42.50

My main reson to go to the family values tour was to see
Staind. the concert was only 3 days after the Pledge of Allegiance tour, at the same arena. The first band up was Spike 1000. They had a female lead singer and were pretty good. high energy, but a little to Nu' Metal to go right on to my Christmas list. Next was an band I had heard of, Static-X. They were not much better than what I had expected. By the time Linkin Park was up, I had made my way to the front. They were better than I expected. They got the crowd going. they played a farly long set. playing their hit. Next was the band I came to see, Staind. They opened their set with "Open Your Eyes" and then went into a little of of each album, playing the hits like Outside, It's Been Awhile, Fade, Mudshovle, Ect. They only played around 10 somes and their set seemed to be over fast. Next up was Stone Temple Pilots. I liked a few STP songs but after Staind I felt I had got what I came for. STP blew me away! Their set was long and strong and they played all their hits. I was supprised how many hits thy have. I knew them all but I just never added them all up. one great thing was when, after about 3 songs, Richard Patrick of Filter and the Filter Guitarist came on stage and they played "Hey Man Nice Shot" with Scott singing back-up for Richard Patrick. Scott was one of the coolist frontmen I have sceen onstage (Marilyn Manson Is the only on I have seen who is better). Overall all STP was by far the best on the tour.
Other than the Music the tour was good and bad. The Production was good. They Played clips about morality (See Family Values Tour 1999 booklet) and things like clips from the South Park movie, between bands. The P.A set up was great (they were up in the air giving you a better view of the stage). Another thing was the walk ways on the sides of the stage. that let the band members get closer to the crowd. I was close enough to read Aaron's shirt (Cotten Mouth Burn Center) The crowd was a bunch of jocks and teeny boppers. Their was a strange, almost homophobic distance between people. when the music got going, I could not tell if the guys were into the music or pumping themselves up for the next football game. The Teeny Boppers were a real pain in the ass. I was next to a few and they screamed so fucking loud  in my eir. Bull shit too like "I love you (Insert name of band member near by)" It was a jock fest all the way. 17,000 people singing along to songs like "Outside" and "It's Been Awhile" ruin the song. over all it was a good concert. dispite the Jock bull shit.
