Darners
Family Aeshnidae
Genus Boyeria
Fawn Darner (Boyeria vinosa)

Similar species – Ocellated Darner (Boyeria grafiana).

Flight season: early July to late September.

Population: not uncommon but seldom seen. When encountered in a natural setting this darner can be seen cruising low along the Moira River shoreline late in the afternoon until evening.

Length: about 60 mm to 65 mm. The relatively small yellow spots, dark patches at the bases of the wings and a lack of pale blue shoulder stripes separate this species from the Ocellated Darner.
