Variable Darner (Aeshna interrupta)



Flight season: early July to late September.

Population: Appears to be uncommon in our area. Found at a variety of habitats – fens, ponds, lakes, beaver ponds and rivers.

Length: about 65 mm to 75 mm.

Female Variable Darner (Aeshna interrupta) – roadkill, the lateral throracic stripes, constricted or broken into four spots, are characteristic of this species (July 28, 2015).
