Cuadro de texto: Emily was born in Forest Row, England 1976, to Canadian parents.

Her grand father is Hilton Hassell (1910-80), a well known Canadian illustrator and landscape painter who was friends with the likes of A.Y Jackson, from The Group of Seven in the 50-60’s.   She grew up in the Columbia County, upstate New York, and attended the Hawthorne Valley Waldorf School, which caters highly to personal development through the arts.

At the age of 7, her teachers took note of her ability in sculpture, and that she also seemed to be more concerned about the well being of her fellow class mates, than focusing her attention on her teachers.   Her high school art teacher also recognized her interest in the medium of sculpture and pretty much let her discover on her own.   Her exceptional request to take clay home from school at age 13, was granted, even though it was uncommon policy.   She has produced over 200 pieces in Terracotta since then.    The majority of these works have been given as gifts, stolen, broken, or remained undocumented.   Around a ¼ of these pieces are however in private Collections, in Belgium, England, Australia, the United States, and Guatemala.   Emily studied for a year with actress Anna Smith, in the UK, where she also worked with Children and adults with Special Needs.   She has worked as a Home Health aide, Certified Nurses Assistant, and a Drug Rehabilitation Therapist.   Recently she formed the first Equine Assisted Psychotherapy Program, at a private Drug Rehabilitation Clinic in Guatemala.   She has also taught sculpture as a therapeutic activity at the clinic, as well as classes for Adult and Children.

She has also worked in as well as participated and founded Cultural/Artistic initiatives in, Ireland, Canada, Guatemala and the US over the past 14 years.

Her art work has been seen in contemporary art galleries, such as Sol Del Rio, in Central America, and The Metropolitan Cultural Center.

Much of her work has sold exclusively with art dealers and private commissioners.

She has been interviewed a number of times on national television, and “La Cuerda” (a women’s rights magazine).

She has done a number of book covers and internal illustrations with Bizarre World Editors. Author of four children’s books, which are also illustrated by her; Emily, has also taken on a “light side”.

She has four young boisterous Spanish speaking kids (her own!), and has recently settled back into her hometown area with them.
