General. The Sunday congregation for the Eucharist includes all types and sorts of people with varied backgrounds and histories during the past week, yet the hall-mark of each one of them is that they have all been baptized and so hold the same faith. The Collect prays God to bestow steadfastness in unity so that with a single will, in a world full of woes, the Christian may find joy and happiness through Eucharistic communion with his brethren. Brotherly love, in short, by following God’s commandments.

Isaiah. Ethnicity or widespread areas are certainly of no worry to God Who wants to bestow faith on anyone in the world who accepts His Word, Jesus Christ. This world vision God has for humanity needs its co-operators by way of Christians who engage themselves missionary activities, spreading the Gospel to the farthest reaches of the continents. We might recall that the Church has declared the third millenium as one for the conversion of Asia.

Epistle to the Hebrews. Faith in God led Jesus to call the Father, ‘Abba’ which means ‘dad’. Just as we expect dad to admonish and punish us by way of love towards for our well-being, so should be expect all that which God does unto us for our own correction and better living out our faith. God heals, in all our circumstances, and expects us to walk along a straight even if narrow path to obtain our salvation.

St Luke. The kingdom of heaven is open to all and we may perhaps yet be surprised when we shall see certain peoples who, in spite of their nationalities and beliefs, will be enjoying the beatific vision of God along with us. Anyone can make it to heaven if , after baptism, one keeps God’s commandments and walks in His path to salvation. This is a sacrifice indeed which can, however, be achieved by being faithful to God and living up to the thanksgiving we render Him during the Eucharist. To Whom we are thankful, we cannot but also be obedient.
