Homily Points
16th Sunday B
General.
The Psalmist sings to the Lord that He is our shepherd and that we therefore do not lack anything. Because of His Holy Name, He leads us up paths of truth. All He wants us to do is to let Jesus lead our lives, the same way a shepherd leads his sheep. We should let him take us through dark valleys, like we used to let our earthly father lead us through hard paths and times in earlier times. The Eucharist helps us attain this wish.Jeremiah.
The Lord does not ever permit that the sheep of His fold be destroyed and spread. He intervenes directly to take care of them and gather them again under His wielding hand so that none of them may fear any more and none will go missing.Ephesians.
The blood of Christ shed on the Cross destroyed man’s hate towards the other and formed us into one body by befriending us to God, giving us one Spirit which obtained for us entry to the Father’s mansions..St Mark.
It often happens in our lives that work and other activities make us miss our prayers. We even fail to meditate on the purpose for which we are living, our running after a prize which we call in faith, life everlasting. Jesus tells us to forsake all life’s bother and rest in his arms for he, being our shepherd, has much to talk and teach us about.
