Homily Points
15th Sunday B
General.
The Word which is proclaimed during the Eucharist is God’s Word for each and evryone us at a particular point in time. We can be passing through a time when we are parting from God’s Commandments yet we still seek His help through the Eucharist for it is indeed Bread which is being given unto us and Blood unto the remission of sins. God’s Word is the Bread of Truth given to whosoever departs from the right path.Amos.
When the Lord calls, most of the time His calls are unexpected. He calls people to go and prophesy, to spread His Gospel throughout the four winds of the earth. All God needs is an act of obedience, a virtual yes, from the person He is calling who knows that nothing can be done out of one’s will, yet much can be achieved when accomplishing the Will of God.Ephesians.
All has been predestined for us by God and all is now needed is our consent to God’s doings for our individual salvation. God wants us to be holy and faultless before Him like adoptive children who by their behavious render honour and glory to their parents. Christ, our elder brother, has been obedient to the Father, and so should we, individually, after having received the Holy Spirit, be equally obedient to Him in an on-going mission towards humanity to recognise Jesus as Christ and Saviour.St Mark.
Jesus sends out disciples to spread the Good Tidings of Salvation at all times. There is always great thirst for the Word and, more specifically, for a novel forceful way of spreading it around. Yet whoever delivers it should only consider himself as a mouth-piece for the Lord. A sign of poverty, by way of clothing and general actions, also shows trust in the Lord Who caters for all, especially those whom He has sent out to accomplish a divine mission and who perform this task with all humility.
