Homily Points
12th Sunday B
General.
In today’s world it is science which is leading man. Without having recourse to science, it seems like nothing has ever been achieved before and all cogs turn around it. The Christian on the other hand argues that God is the axis point around which everything revolves, Who works through all space and time and Whose pathways, even if we do not understand them, certainly lead us to our fulfilment as persons destined to walk towards life everlasting.Job
has throughout his life been aware of God’s greatness, even when He permitted Satan to tempt him harshly. Job’s patience and hope are proverbial, for as God told him, all that was done and which is conducive to present life, be that as it may, was done with His will. It is the interpretation of the God fearing and loving person that really counts, something which the Christians learns to do in obeying to the will of God. Actually, love and obedience go hand in hand.Second Letter to the Corinthians.
We are all indebted to Christ for the salvation obtained by his death on the cross. Now a Christian does no longer live for his own self and does not consider himself as of any value in the flesh. He now looks at himself in terms of how he stands before the living God, of Whom he is son and inheritor.St Mark.
The force of the wind and of the sea in the midst of a tempest are merely an image of death. This death encompasses both our individual souls and the world collectively. Yet Jesus Christ has the power and the might to say "Stop! Enough of it!" and chides us for our fear and disbelief in His Holy Name. Our lack of courage very often leaves us in a state of turmoil and death.
