Homily Points
11th Sunday B
General.
This Sunday we shall recall how all that exists and happens on this earth is of God’s doing and cause, in such manner that a leaf may not fall off from a tree that God would not know about it. It is for that reason that our heart is filled with songs of praise to God once we know that all that happens is fruit of his steadfast love, an everlasting bestowing of goodness and faithfulness.Ezechiel.
When the Lord speaks, he performs whatever he says. He sets persons on high and lowers the undeserving, he plants and harvests, waters desert land and dries up wet lands. Yet the fool thinks he can take God’s reigns in his own hands and do what he wills rather than what God wills. In entertaining those thoughts and doings, that man will find his damnation.Second Letter to the Corinthians.
While the flesh is of utmost importance to the pagans, the Christian considers his garb to be the hope which he has of dying to this world and living with the Lord. Faith is the shield which leads him before Christ’s tribunal on judgement day.St Mark.
Jesus explains how his Farther’s kingdom which he has sown on earth resembles a mustard seed which when it grows, spreads out over a large area. There might be plenty of weed which chokes the seed, yet God Who watches all will only do justice when harvest day comes about.
