The Gray Minstrel's Tale

email the DM
 by Reinhard Rittmeyer

A story true of courage lack
and footing lost on virtue's track
and trailing far but near to fear
a banshee scream through night to ear

Crusaders came by 2 and 4
to take their fight to evils' score
with confidence in god and might
went bravely forward spreading light

But light alone canst clear the path
when suffers all a hellish wrath
From deep below whence fires came
still none above dare speak the name

Together Fight, Together Fall
till good wins out o'er evil's pall
A vow in blood in Triad's name
For one and all our end's the same

Heroes bold betrayed outright
By friend made foe through coward's flight.
Cursed Forger of treachery
Let evil steal the victory

Strong enough to break his vow
Alone with fear he struggled now
To leave this dungeon quest and hide
Alone he fell Alone he died

Widows weep and orphans cry
Bards oft sing as maidens sigh
For want of heroes lost below
Who hunt in sleep for friend turned foe

On guard, On guard eternal stand
Though neither see nor sense the land
Before their eyes, beyond their age
They wait as steel, full of rage
