Dear brother Asim Gilani Assalamo Alaikum
Eid Mubarak.
It is really heartening to know that you are interested in understanding basics
of our Deen. May Allah increase your knowledge, and reward you for that. Amen!
Now here are your questions:
I am a regular visitor of your web site, and also I used it to get some
information. Today I need the answer with explanation to the following
questions.
1- The word "ZUAD" in Urdu language is pronounced "ZUAD" or "DUAD"
during the recitation of Quran? Same with word "SAY" in Urdu. Is it pronounced
"THA" or "SA"?
2- How SAJDA SAHOO can be done. I mean if you do any mistake during
prayer then how can you remedy it?
Answers:
1. There are some Arabic words which seem to have similar sound when said in Urdu language. All of these have different pronunciations in Arabic. The art of pronouncing them correctly is called tajweed. All Muslims must learn tajweed in order to recite Qur'an correctly.
Unfortunately, peoples of different languages do not learn tajweed, and hence
pronounce all such different letters with similar or same sound.
2. A complete salat consists of some duties (Fardh), requirements (Wajib), and sunnah. Duties such as standing, ruku’, sajdah, etc. are must. If you forget any one of these, you must repeat your whole salat.
Requirements i.e. wajib such as order of standing or sitting must be corrected
by sajdah sahw. If instead of sitting, you stood up, then before you complete
the salat, you must perform two sajdahs to rectify the sahw (mistake).
Sunnah such as reciting loudly or secretly need not be corrected. If instead of
reciting qur'an loudly in a Jamaat the imam recites secretly by mistake, he
need not do sajdah sahw.
For a detailed list of fardh, wajib and sunnah of salat, you need to study a book of fiqh for it.
