I want to know why is eye brow plucking for women not allowed in Islam. The Prophet (PBUH) has cursed women who get their eyebrows plucked. Why is it considered so bad?

Answer:

May Allah increase your knowledge and help you act accordingly, Amen! Satan tells Allah,

ولاَمُرَنَّهُم فَليُغَُيِّرُنَّ خَلقَ اللهِ

(And I will order them, so they will make changes in the creation of Allah) (An-Nisa 119)

This clearly implies that those who make changes in the natural creation follow the order of Satan. The eyebrows are natural creation; hence, the women who unnecessarily pluck their eyebrows to color or beautify them follow the order of Satan; that is why the Messenger (S) has cursed them.

         However, according to some scholars of Hanafi School of Thought, women are allowed to beautify themselves for the pleasure of their husbands by plucking their face hairs, putting lipstick to their lips, polishing their nails, and designing their faces, etc. (Halal and Haram by Allama Yusuf Al-Qardhawi).
