Assalamu Alaikum
I hope you are all fine. I am fine too.
Right now I am in Washington DC for a workshop paper presentation. I will go back to Austin on Sunday, Insha Allah. My presentation is on Sunday too. Please pray that it goes well.
My question is: I am traveling on the afternoon of Sunday, around 1pm, should I fast on Sunday or not? What is better, fasting or not fasting when traveling? What counts as traveling, and whether is it even allowed for someone who is traveling like me to not fast?
Please let me know soon.

Dear Hamid Dua'en!

May Allah help you in your presentation, Amen!

If you do not feel any hardship in fasting during your travel, you may fast.

If you feel hardship of any sort, such as iftar or sahur or any possible damage to your body, soul, worldly success or religion, then it is better not to fast, and fast later after Ramadan. Your journey to Washington for less than fifteen days allows you not to fast.

Wassalam
