Can we perform four rak'at nafil with only one salam in the end as we perform Dhuhr, ‘Asr and ‘Isha prayers (four rak’at fardh with only one salam)?

Answer

Yes, we can perform four rak‘aat nafil salat during daytime.

There are three types of nawafil salats: 1. Ratibah or Muwakkadah; 2. Ghayr Ratibah or Ghayr Muwakkadah; and 3. Extra

The Prophet (S) is reported to have said that “salat-ul-layl mathna mathna” (night prayers are in two units). It means that extra nawafil at night should only be offered in two units each. This automatically implies that nawafil in daytime can be offered in two or four or more units with one salam. According to the rulings of Hanafi School of Thought, it is preferable (afdhal) to offer nawafil salat in four units with one salam, as the sunnah salat before the Fardh salat of Dhur is offered in four units with one salam.
