assalamualaikum

please can you explain ayah 41 of surah ankabut.

Dear Br.  Assalamo Alaikum!

Ramadhan Mubarak. May Allah keep you happy and healthy, Amen!

You have indeed asked a very good question. This shows that masha Allah you recite the Qur'an with meditation. May Allah increase your knowledge. Amen!

The ayat tells us a parable. A parable is always told to explain the text under consideration. If we look into the verses before this verse, we find that Allah SWT has talked about the punishment and destruction of different nations and groups such as those in the times of prophets Abraham, Lot, Shuaib, Moses etc. These were the nations who were worshipping idols, priests, and kings. They had thought that these self-made deities would help them and save them in their lives. But see what happened when Allah wanted to punish them. None of their deities could save them. They were easily destroyed by Allah like webs of spiders are easily destroyed by any petty thing such as a straw or a finger of a man. Please note here that Allah has specifically mentioned Qarun (symbolizing wealth and riches), Firoun (symbolizing power and force), Haman (He was an engineer, thus symbolizing technology or science). Thus, if Allah wants to punish a nation, neither power nor riches nor technology nor stone or wood idols nor priests (religious leaders) can save it. It will be destroyed like that a web of a spider. Lesson: Worship Allah alone; fear him alone; seek his help alone. He does not like association i.e. shirk.

Hope this will satisfy you.

Wassalam
