Rant VI
This is a paper I was forced to grade in my World History I class. The topics were provided and we chose from the list. I know nothing of the author (besides the fact that their writing skills are appaling for even a seventh grader..).  I found the contents and opinions expressed to be far too amazing and contradictory (...and maybe a little humorous) to be kept simply in the confines of my teacher's file cabinet.  Thus, through furitve copying and giggling, I bring to you this (unaltered) product of America's children.

Is Religious Belief Ever Justification for Violence?

My answer to this question is yes and no.  It is a very touchy subject because violence may affect innocent people.  When asked whether religious belief give justification, you must examine the religion.  If the religion is wrong there is no real jusitfication.  In my opinion, unless the religion follows the word of God it is wrong.  God would never tell his people to kill innocent families or do such horrible things as cut off a man's fingers and burn him alive!
Also, who are we to "play God" and carry out violence for our beliefs?  The Bible says that, "The powers that be are ordained of God."  Knowing this, God, the leader of the true religion, gave us people to carry out violence.  We should not have to behave in such a manner.
However, the only reason that a religious belief could ever justify violence is if you are defending the truth.  If you are being forced to do what you feel is wrong, due to your religious beliefs, then you should stand up and fight for what is right.  But as I said before, God did put those people in that place above you.  We just do not see the big picture and why things happen.  All we know is that we must do what is right, no matter the cost.  We know it is right by following the right, true religion.
The question is not if we can be violent because of our religion, but what we have to do to preserve the truth.
