Introduction

[ October 2003, Manager’s house ]

"Where *is* that punk!" Sakamoto-kun growled as he paced the living room impatiently. Leader had every right to be upset this cold autumn morning because, once again, Go was late -- terribly late.

Nagano-kun tried to mollify the older man. "Calm down, Masa-kun."

"No, I can’t calm down!" Sakamoto-kun shot back. "I told him again and again yesterday that this is a *very* important meeting and he mustn’t, under any circumstance, be late -- but what? He completely ignores it!"

"I’m sure he’s on his way," Nagano assured him then turns to look at Ken who was giving the boy-of-the-moment a call.

"He’s not answering," Ken told them, waving his cellphone lamely. "I think he left his cellphone at home."

"Again," Sakamoto-kun added.

Meanwhile, Inocchi-kun was lying sleepily at the couch across from me. "Okada, will you please *please* tell them to shut up? It’s way too early in the day to be fighting," he complained groggily, being the non-morning person that he was.

I looked up from the magazine I was reading to check the time on my watch. "But, Inocchi-kun, it’s already eleven-- "

"Looks like ojiisan is really pissed," Ken remarked of the oldest member of V6, plopping on the chair next to me.

"Where is Go anyway?" I asked to the magazine.

"I have no idea. You know Go, he does whatever he wants to do," explained Ken.

"Oh, right," I answered coolly.

"Will you two please shut up? Somebody’s trying to get some sleep here," Inocchi-kun complained once again, covering his face with a throw pillow.

"Don’t you think it’s about time you get up?" Ken chided.

Inocchi-kun uncovered his face then replied rather sarcastically, "Hm, let me see-- No!"

Ken made a face. "Geez, and I thought Sakamoto-kun was the only grumpy old man around here!"

"I heard that," the said man called out from across the room, making Ken turn to look at me.

"See?" Ken said, jerking a thumb at Sakamoto-kun’s direction.

"Ken," Nagano-kun promptly warned him.

To which Ken replied, "(coughs) Oyaji. (coughs)"

Earning him a big "SHUT UP!!" from the three older men.

I smiled, in spite of myself. Sometimes I still couldn’t believe I’m in a group with these five other guys who are very different from me and from one another. I remember the first time I laid eyes on the members of this group that I was to become a part of, back then I probably would’ve mocked you if you told me that I would still be with them eight years later. . .
