Another venomous snake which is perfectly adapted to life on the rainforest floor is the Gaboon Viper
from tropical and South Eastern Africa. Although its colour pattern looks very conspicuous when you see the animal on a uniformly coloured background, it becomes practically invisible in its natural environment.
This snake has the longest fangs of all venomous snakes and possesses a highly effective venom.
Luckily it is a rather placid fellow and you are not likely to find out for yourself just how effective this venom is.
