Anolis chrysolepis
Most of the members of this genus are arboreal, but this species lives and forages on the ground. The males readily produce their red gular flap. The flap of females is blue. (wasn't it the girls who have to wear pink and the boys to wear blue?)

Only at night they will climb low shrubs and settle on the outer surface of leaves to sleep. It is not quite clear why they do it, but a good guess is to avoid predation by nocturnal snakes or even ants. The same behaviour is observed in
Bufo typhonius margaritifer.
