Mount Perry man dies in two-car crash
Clarksville - A Mount Perry man died Thursday morning when he was thrown from his car and killed in a two car accident just south of Junction City. Ted Williams, 24, was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash on County Road 57, according to a dispatcher at the Lancaster post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The crash is still under investigation, but it appears that Williams drove his Ford Mustang left of center on the county road as he was approaching Ohio 668 around 7:39 a.m. according to authorities. The Mustang rammed into a Buick Regal driven by Pamela Cordell, 36, of Junction City. Troopers said Williams' vehicle was nearly ripped in half, and Williams was ejected. Cordell was taken by Junction City rescue squad to Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster with undisclosed injuries.

Chesterhill - James C. Newberry, Sr., 26, his wife, Peggy McGlaughlin Newberry, 24, and their 22-month old son, James C. Newberry, Jr., died Monday morning as the result of a fire at their mobile home residence at Stockport Route 1, near Pennsville. (See story on page 1-A).
Born Oct. 2, 1925* at Malta, the son of Roy Newberry of McConnelsville and Clara Newberry of Marietta, Mr. Newberry was a Navy veteran and was employed as a pumper for Hopewell Oil Co. of Zanesville. Surviving besides his parents are his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Curry of Zanesville; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Florence Blackburn of McConnelsville; paternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Hazel Crawford of McConnelsville; three brothers, Daniel, stationed with the Navy in Rhode Island, David, stationed with the Army at Fort Riley, Kan, and Shannon of Marietta; and a sister, Mrs. Tamara Whitmore of Nelsonville.
Mrs. Newberry was born Nov. 18, 1958, in Pennsville, daughter of Jack and Bonna Milhoan McGlaughlin of Stockport Route 1. Surviving beside her parents are her maternal grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Milhoan of Malta; five sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Elliott of Stockport Route 3, Mrs. Linda Williams of Crooksville, Mrs. Jacqueline Duvall of Malta, Mrs. Barbara Shumate of Zanesville and Mrs. Glenna Mollahan of Blue Rock.
