35 Alex looked over at Angie, and she nodded quickly, glancing over at Dr. Muzquz. Dr. Muzquz brushed by the cops and walked directly into the nearest exam room. The cops turned slowly and left the office, walking back down the hallway to the reception desk. The exam room door opened suddenly, and Dr. Muzquz poked his head out. Angie, please come in here. I need you. She immediately obeyed. Steve and Alex looked at each other and nodded to the reception desk. They walked past the desk and out of the medical suite. In a few moments, Angie returned to the reception desk. Alex watched her through the small glass porthole in the suite door. Her hands were shaking. Quietly, Alex turned the handle and slipped inside the door. Hugging the wall furthest from the hallway, he walked quickly to the reception desk. Angie stood frozen, her eyes like saucers, watching him approach. Alex handed her his card and whispered, At lunch from a pay phone. Its not safe here. Angie nodded and quickly slipped the card into her pocket as Alex retreated along the same wall by which he entered. She looked casually down the hallway, but Dr. Muzquz was nowhere in sight.
Danny leaned on the square concrete pillar, waiting beside a black Lexus with vanity plate DRMZQZ. The elevator doors opened and Danny tipped his head out just enough to see if his quarry approached. A womans heels clicked off loudly to the left, echoing through the concrete parking garage as she walked over to her car. Danny slowly leaned back behind the pillar. So much of a cops job is waiting. One, two, three more elevator loads of solitary workaholics entered the garage and marched off in random directions. The next slide of the doors was pay dirt. A mans shoes ambled slowly in Dannys direction, and stopped by the drivers door on the other side of the pillar. Danny stepped around and flashed his badge. Doctor, Danny said, Im looking for information about Dr. Pachlas whereabouts. I already told your guys, I got nothing for you. Danny grabbed up Dr. Muzquzs lapels and backed him against his car. How about you share some information about Diane Russell. Doctor-patient privilege. Im not telling you a thing. I dont even know who you are. Sorenson. Danny Sorenson?
