�Sergeant Thibodeaux,� Andy said into his cell phone as he and Diane walked away from Angie�s desk in the clinic, �this is Detective Sipowicz from the 1-5 on that missing doctor case. Lemme talk to the detective on this, okay?�

Diane ran interference, opening clinic doors as they half-ran back to their car.

�Okay, can you radio and tell him we�ll meet him there? Thanks a lot.�

�Who caught the case at the 1-8?� Diane asked.

�Alex Rodriguez. He and Danny are over at Dr. Hubley�s place looking for evidence.�

Andy and Diane jumped into the car and peeled out. Diane drove while Andy placed more calls to the 1-8 to report Dr. Pachla�s suspected disappearance and its relation to Dr. Hubley�s disappearance.

�Trouble is my middle name,� Diane sighed.

�So, where do I start?� Danny offered as he walked over to Dr. Hubley�s roll-top desk and started pulling open drawers with his gloved hands.

�With the events around the shooting that led Detective Russell to seek the services of Dr. Hubley,� Alex answered, flipping through mail in Dr. Hubley�s mail slot.

�Hey, look at this,� Danny said, holding up a manila file folder, �the label says �Russell, Diane.��

Danny flipped the folder open to start reading the file, but Alex yanked it out of his hands. A few loose papers and a CitiWide Couriers envelope flew out of the folder and landed on the ground. Alex and Danny both stooped to pick them up, but Alex reached them first. He shoved them back into the folder before Danny could get a good look at them.

�Why�d you go and do that? It�s material to the case,� Danny pouted.

�You don�t know that for certain. It is also the confidential psychological file of one of your coworkers, and it�s up to me to decide if it�s material or not. So keep your paws off.�

�I thought we were working together on this,� Danny wheedled, but his shoulders fell when he saw Alex slip the folder into an evidence bag, seal it and stuff it into his briefcase.

�And I can rescind that courtesy if you step out of line, Sorenson.�

�You�re right. I�m sorry. It�s just, this case means so much to us. To Diane.�
