3 Al nodded firmly and dropped the handlink to his side. "And you're also just about to completely screw up an undercover narcotics operation." As if in answer to his words, the sound of a carbide saw rang irritatingly against the warehouse door. Al looked towards the sound, then back at Sam. "You better stop 'em from getting in here." Sam nodded gravely, still trying to think through the noise in his head. He was starting to come back to himself, but there was still something not quite right about the person he was in. He leveled the gun at the cop's head, not missing the flicker of relief that went over his face. "Who's trying to get in?"
Something is wrong, she thought. Even after she thought it, the echo bounced around inside her head. She just couldn't get over the feeling. Gomez and Olivo caught it, too. "Did you get that?" "Yeah." "How many guys did he bring?" "I thought it was just the one." "Who's he talking to?" "I can't see anyone." Gomez turned towards Diane. "Do you have any idea what's going on in his head?" Detective Russell shook her head hard, staring at Harry's image on the monitor. "He's wasted, but he's never hallucinated like that before... that I know of." A tinny voice from the surveillance equipment shouted, "I can hear you trying to get in! Back off now or I'll... I shoot your guy, here!" Diane didn't miss that Olivo and Gomez cringed. "What the hell is he thinkin'?" Andy demanded. "He's gonna shoot a cop knowing he's a cop!" No, he isn't, Diane thought, not quite understanding how she knew. She just did. He never had any intention of shooting that cop. She turned away from the monitors to look Gomez in the eye. He looked guilty as sin. "What's really going on, here?"
