Diane looked at him and said, Im sorry, Harry. I dont know whats wrong with me. I really dont. Maybe I should stay in the car. You go on up.

Harry looked up at the third floor windows. A figure waved down to them, and then motioned for them to come up.

Too late. Weve been spotted, Harry chuckled and held both her hands in his. Itll be okay. I know it will. Its only one person. Two against one. We can take em if it gets out of hand.

As they entered the building, Diane started to get a familiar feeling, as if she had seen it before. They walked up to the third floor, and Harry pounded on the door of apartment 3C. A womans voice inside said, Be right there! They heard clicks and snaps as locks and chains were undone.

The door swung open, and its owner was concealed behind. Harry put his hand on Dianes back and gently guided her inside.

The apartment was warm and cozy. A hot fire was burning in the fireplace with fragrant cedar logs. A big fluffy white couch faced the fireplace, separated from it only by a coffee table with iron legs and a glass top. A matching love seat was on the right side of the coffee table. In front of the love seat, Diane saw a mug and an open book, face down to mark the page. Diane detected a kitchen in the darkness to the left of the fireplace. The smell of warm apple cider and cinnamon filled the air, mixed with the smell of cooking turkey, mashed potatoes, and some kind of steaming vegetable. It was a delicious mix of aromas, and suddenly Diane realized she was starving. She had been unable to eat all day.

Behind her, she heard Harry greeting his long lost relative with a hug and a kiss. Diane recovered her courage, and turned around to meet the phantom that had haunted her nightmares for the last two days.

Claire? Diane gasped.

Diane!

You two have met? Harry said, incredulous, relieved, watching the two hug each other.

Harry! Why didnt you tell me you were dating my new partner?

Well, sweet cousin, you wanted to use this dinner as a chance to catch up with me, didnt you?

You didnt tell me you had a cousin, much less family on the job! Diane said to Harry, poking her finger in his chest.

Its apparent that I have a lot of catching up to do with Claire, Harry answered, apologetically.
