Reverend Amos Gray Kendall - born on April 22, 1842, Henry County, Tennessee. He left this life on March 9, 1924 in Carroll County, Arkansas. During the Civil war he was a member of the 1st Arkansas and was captured at the Battle of Shiloh.  On his way to prison camp, he jumped ship near Obion County, Tennessee where his father had a farm, and got away with a shot in the leg.  After the Civil War he became a minister for the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, and preached all over Northwest Arkansas.
