Layers
of the Earth
The Mantle is the second layer to the center of earth. It is 1800 miles thick. The mantle is 1600 degrees Fahrenheit at the top and 4000 degrees fahrenheit at the bottom.
The Crust is the first layer of the earth. The crust is broken up in to ploates that float on the mantle. It is only about 3-5 miles thick.
The core is broken up in to two parts.The outer core is 1400 miles thick. It is compose melted metal, iron, and nickel.The inner core is 800 miles thick.It can get as hot as 9000 degrees Farenheit.
