Entering Greendale from southeast this is to the right and cemetery
to left
Greendale is an old gold mining town - Cemetery and new farmhouses
Up the road to the cemetery is this remnant of a church.
October 19, 2004 "Australian " says :
"Greendale has a population of about 1000 people, the pub and an unfinished
church started by a
local lay preacher and bushranger before he was hanged."
The view f rom the pub- looking down the road south -west to Ballan
- " town" centre -
it goes north to Blackwood
Opposite the pub -old house - newly painted silver roof. house.
The road at the left of this house is gravel and rough - for 4wd in
summer too I think.
At town center is a new roundabout, old pub and this house and
trees.
Greendale original pub
The pub is on the edge of another willow lined creek with a shady outdoor
table.
Out of town after many many back roads travelled we found this place
below
- dont go up the dirt road opposite pub door, past the football field
unless you have a 4 wheel drive as the ruts are deep!
A house hidden from view on a small back road near Greendale- age indeterminate-
style unusual.
With telescopic lens we could see all this from the road.
the view up the drive showed a weather cock on this little house
which is in front of a newly
painted silver tin roof farm house
Also noted one most unusual farm shed that looked rather new.
Facade of rocks on shed
All these unusual farm photos were taken from the road near the gate
you see here- it is close to a willow lined creek too.
