Nana Sue

I loved my Mother. She was strong in will and spirit. She fiercely loved her children and her family. She was not a respecter of persons; she treated everyone equally and fairly. She was liked by all groups or clics at her school. By trade she was a histologist, a homemaker, a rancher and an artist.

Both my parents had a special rapport with God's creatures. My mother could talk with animals as well as people. She had a calming effect on both wild and domestic animals. My father is an animal doctor. They both loved camping and the outdoors, whether it was sneaking out of class to go to the beach or spending their honeymoon at Lake Arrowhead. Growing up, our family spent a month traveling across Europe and living out of a tent.

Mom was good with speech, language and reasoning. I always thought she would have made a good lawyer. She also spoke several languages. Mom and Dad made a good match when it came to language. Mom would speak and read French., and Dad German. They both spoke English and  Greek, though different dialects.

She may have had the speech of a lawyer but she had the soul of an artist. As she got older, Mom began to exercise her talent for drawing and painting. As her skills grew, she traveled the horse show circuit.

Mom had many physical hardships and challenges. She was born missing a hip joint and had 14 vertebrate fused in her back to treat scoliosis. She walked with a cane. And just as she was getting better, she would run into another set back, like the car accident.

Mommy Sue held her first granddaughter in the summer of 1991, little Chrissy Joy. She died a few weeks later, complications from the auto accident of a few years prior. Her next two granddaughters where named Sue in her honor. Mom will be greatly missed  by all.
