| Today is Wednesday, December 1. My mother was with Harold yesterday during his special weekly eye clinic that he has every Tuesday. She told me that her understanding of his eyesight is that he indeed sees out of both eyes, but that his peripheral vision is limited. She also said that the therapists were very pleased with the progress in his vision since his last vision test a week or so ago. Matthew, Harold's son, arrived for a visit with his father a day or so ago and Harold's immediate response to seeing Matthew was, "Well now, let me hug my son." This is wonderful progress. I'll be visiting Harold again on Sunday and will read him more of his e-mails at that time. I'm also saving all of them in a special file for him so that he can refer back to them whenever he likes. Many of you may have known Wayne Yost from the local community. Wayne was quite a high profile individual, serving as both youth leader in the church and head of the local fire department. We are all so very saddened to hear of his passing, and will continue to pray that God will give his wife Linda and the enire Kauffman/Yost families comfort during this time. It is a loss all of us will always carry with us. May God be with all of us and see us through this. I remember growing up next door to Wayne. I haven't seen him in quite a few years, but my memory is still very vivid of his cheerful smile and hearty laugh, and ready willingness to always lend a hand or plow our driveway with one of his big, helpful vehicles which he always seemed to show up with, just when you needed it most. Wayne was a wonderful man and this is a terrible loss to the community. |
