| Today is Monday, February 7. I was fortunate to visit with Harold this past weekend. I was very impressed at the obvious progress Harold has made. He enjoyed showing me a photo album of his wedding photos and pointing to different friends. He didn't always identify them correctly, but he is making great progress. He did the same with a recent yearbook from the high school where he was teaching prior to the accident. We're trying to decide what is the next best step for Harold to take. We are looking at full-time rehab as one option. I am just so thankful for the many, many kind souls from Harold's church and from the community that are really pitching in and making the situation for the family bearable. Joanne really needs our prayers right now. Harold is quite happy in the situation and has adapted well to all the situations he's been in. However, it seems that the strain and stress really falls hard on Joanne and on our mother. Mother's leg has an infection that has the doctor puzzled, but it seems to be healing. I drove mother to my sister's in New Jersey for a week of rest and relaxation. She'll greatly enjoy hanging out with my sister's children, and I thought a change of scenery was critical to her health. Harold is still struggling with unprovoked aggitation. I thought he was moving out of that phase, but I'm not sure now. Thank you all so very much for everything that you are doing to help out. Where would we be without all of you? Folks bring meals daily and help keep Harold company. I'll update more as information comes in. Have a great day! |
