Today is Tuesday, December 28. I was with Harold on Christmas Day and the day after Christmas. Both days my visit was rather short, but I did feel Harold was a bit more confused than my previous visit. When I arrived back in NYC on Monday, I phoned Harold's nurse-in-charge to ask what types of medication Harold was taking and if that could possibly be affecting his awareness. He assured me that any confusion could not be caused by his medication. He also added that Harold had a fantastic day in therapy on Monday and that two different therapists had noticed improvements. I was very happy to hear that because I did feel that Harold was quite confused. It seems he has blocks of time where he's quite aware, and then there are times where he's utterly confused. His nurse assured me that this is common with his condition. Harold's recovery has leveled off a bit, but these types of plateaus are most often temporary stages. He's not so easily agitated as he was a couple weeks ago, so that is progress. I found that Harold really enjoyed looking out his window with me. I tried to engage him in conversations about how wonderful the sky looked and how beautiful the clouds were that day. He really responded great to that. He seemed to really enjoy talking about the beauty and awe of nature. I look forward to another visit with him soon and will update the web site if I hear anything new. Blessings to you all.
