6.a Region Of Our Survey

Survey region of our project is Bulandshahr town in National Capital Region, 71Km from Delhi in Uttar Pradesh. It lies in doab of river Ganga and Yamuna.

 

 It receives plenty of rainfall in the months of June to September. And some amount of rain in winters. Its annual rainfall is 700mm. Water table in the region is 20’ to 25’.

 

Population of the city is 1,76,256 (Yr 2001). Through tube wells and 6 overhead tanks (5410kl) 8.64mld water is made available to people for domestic and commercial purposes. The total requirement of the city is 33.75mld. This extra need is met with direct bores to ground. City has no drainage and sewage system or any treatment plant. Domestic waste water along with effluent and rain water flows through open city drains to meet Kali nadi untreated. City lacks open spaces and parks.

 

To meet the water requirement for irrigation there is parallel canal system, Upper Ganga canal and Madhya Ganga canal.
