| Article I - Name and Purpose Section 1. The name of the club shall be the Harmony Bay Chinese Shar Pei Club. Section 2. The purpose of the club shall be: (a) to encourage and promote quality in the breeding of purebred Chinese Shar Pei and to do all possible to bring their natural qualities to perfection; (b) to urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the Chinese Shar Pei Club of America and the American Kennel Club as the only standard of excellence by which Chinese Shar Pei shall be judged; (c) to do all in its power to protect and advance the interests of the breed by encouraging sportsmanlike competition at dog shows and fun matches (d) to conduct sanctioned dog shows and matches under the rules and regulations of the Chinese Shar Pei Club of America and the American Kennel Club; (e) to educate all those who are involved with Chinese Shar Pei and the general public about the breed and responsible ownership; (f) to contribute financially to organizations that help Chinese Shar Pei, such as recognized rescue organizations and the Chinese Shar Pei Charitable Trust. Section 3. National club authority: We recognize the Chinese Shar Pei Club of America (CSPCA) as the parent club and the American Kennel Club as the sole registry of the Chinese Shar Pei. The rules and the code of ethics of the AKC, CSPCA and the Harmony Bay Shar Pei Club shall be the final authority. Section 4. The club shall not be conducted or operated for profit and no part of any profits or remainder or residue from dues or donations to the club shall be used to the benefit of any member or individual. Section 5. The members of the club shall adopt and may from time to time revise such By-laws as may be required to carry out these objects. Any changes to these by-laws must be made in acc Article II - Membership Section 1. Eligibility. There shall be four (4) types of membership open to all persons who are in good standing with The American Kennel Club and the Chinese Shar Pei Club of America and who subscribe to the purposes of this club. Membership types include: Family - 2 adults Individual - Members 18 years of age and older Associate � Members who only wish to receive the newsletter Junior � Members under the age of 18 who wish to join the club and are not part of a family membership Dues for each type of membership are listed on the Harmony Bay Chinese Shar Pei Club membership application. Junior and Newsletter memberships shall not have voting privileges in the club but shall receive all other club benefits. While membership is to be unrestricted as to residence, the club's primary purpose is to be representative of the breeders and exhibitors in southern and western Washington. Section 2. Dues. Membership dues shall not exceed $25.00 per year, payable on or before the 1st day of July of each year. No member may vote whose dues are not paid for the current year.
