Disclaimer ~*~ Not mine, not mine, not mine, not mine!!! The characters of Passions are NOT MINE!!! I wish I was smart enough to have invented them, but I'm not. They belong to other people. I have no money, so suing will get you nowhere.
Rating: Umm, the first chapter is going to be pretty harmless; it's the other ones following it that you have to worry about. So it would probably be like PG-13, because of some cursing and other stuff.
Summary ~*~ This is really how I've imagined Ethan and Gwen's wedding to
turn out on the show. I've read some spoilers, some having to do with a
certain wedding from Friends. If you haven't seen the episode, don't worry, because you will understand it anyways. This involves pretty much everybody. The truth about Ethan hasn't come out, Eve is still safe (for now! Haha) and Sheridan still doesn't know about the imposter, but those thing will change eventually.
Chapter 1
And So It Begins
The town was buzzing with energy and talk about the upcoming wedding of
Ethan Crane and Gwen Hotchkiss. Everybody had been waiting years for the event, and finally it was here. Everybody in Harmony was invited, including the Russell's, Bennet's, and Lopez-Fitzgerald's. Everybody knew that Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald had been helping Ethan out with the wedding, even more so than Gwen. It had been rumored that they had been having an affair, but many shushed it, knowing that Ethan, unlike his father, was a very faithful man.
The chapel was exquisite, decorated fully with big white and light pink
roses. The tables were set, the cake ready, the music waiting to be
played, and the dance floors waxed and ready to be used. The dress fit Gwen perfectly, flowing gracefully down here waist and reaching her feet, held up by simple, yet elegant, white heels. Her hair was pulled into a tight bun, and she sat awaiting the wedding to start. "What will I do if she wants to talk to me? I still don't know what turned her against me!" Luis cried out in frustration while buttoning up his
coat. The only reason he was going to the wedding was for his mother Pilar. That's what he told himself. The truth was, he wanted to see Sheridan. For such a small town, he had found it odd that he hadn't bumped into her in awhile.
He tried to get over the beautiful blond, but the truth is, everywhere he went reminded him of her. He had tried to keep the promise to Julian to stay away from Sheridan, hoping that he could forget about her in the process. But when he slept, or passed by her cabin, or talked to Hank, she was on his mind. He dreamt about her at night, and often fantasized about her during the day. "Oh, Whit. What am I going to do? The wedding is still on!" Theresa asked her best friend frantically, trying to zip up her bridesmaid dress. She was trying to calm down, but the thought of Ethan marrying another woman was making her insane. "I've tried everything I could think of to win Ethan, but nothing has worked!"
"That's because he loves GWEN!" Whitney Russell said, placing emphasis
on the blonde's name. She hated what her friend was doing to herself, knowing that she would have to pick up the pieces again in the end. She didn't want to do that, considering she was still trying to convince herself that Chad meant nothing to her. She was slowly losing control of herself, knowing that she was falling for him more and more each time they talked. "Oh, Sam", Ivy said dreamily, admiring the locket he had given her so long ago. "I know you still love me! And this wedding is going to be the perfect chance for you to realize it. I don't want to break up your marriage to Grace, I just want an affair!" She often talked to herself about that stuff. Today's wedding just made her even more dreamy.
Meanwhile, Ethan was a total wreck. He was pacing around, sweating and
talking to himself. "I dreamt about her again. I dreamt about making
love to Theresa, not Gwen. What is wrong with me? I'm marrying Gwen. I love Gwen." The last two statements he repeated in his head over and over again, as if he were trying to convince himself of it. "Knock, Knock" Sheridan slowly opened the door to her nephew's room in the
church. She had been worrying about the same things as Luis. As much as
she tried to fight it, she knew she was still in love with him, even if he had only been using her. "Sheridan! Oh my god! It's so good to see you!" With this he pulled her into a huge hug. She wrapped her arms around him, confused at his enthusiasm to see her. "Ethan, I know it must have been hours since we last saw each other. I didn't think you would miss me so much! "She said teasingly. He pulled away, and she noticed the panic in his eyes. "Ethan, what's wrong?" She asked, now scared. "Aunt Sheridan, I don't know if I can go through with this wedding."

Chapter 2
Head Problems
"Aunt Sheridan, I don't know if I can go through with this wedding."
Ethan said with a sigh, sitting sown. He knew what she'd say. When her voice rang out, he cringed at its tone. "What the hell are you talking about Ethan!? It's your wedding day! Everybody is coming, Gwen is already sitting in her dress, and everything is paid for, how can you not go through with it? How can you do that to Gwen, to your family?" She was babbling and she knew it, but she couldn't help it. This was
her nephew and she loved him, she didn't want him to do something he
would regret. "Why can't you go through with this wedding?" She asked in a softer voice.
This whole time he was thinking, and he felt horribly guilty. He knew
This was Gwen's dream day, something she had dreamed of and planned since they first got together; maybe even earlier. 'How can I just betray Gwen like that? I love her! I love Gwen!' Once again, he forced himself to think that way. "Ok Gwen, I'll do it. I don't know what I was thinking. It was probably just cold feet." He forced himself to smile at his Aunt. She smiled back and gave him another hug. "What if Ivy tries to make another move on me? Everybody in Harmony will be
there, what if somebody sees it? What if Julian sees? He'll have me
fired, kicked out of my house. What if Grace sees? I can't go to this
wedding!" His head was in his hands and he was sitting on his bed, imagining what Ivy would do if she got him alone.
"Why can't you go to this wedding, Sam?" He looked up, only to see
Grace standing there with her hands on her hips. "Luis, Hijo, are you ready?" Pilar asked her oldest son, walking into his room and interrupting his thoughts of Sheridan. He looked like he hadn't
slept in a week, his coat was wrinkled and his hair disheveled. She
walked up and put an arm around her son. "You're thinking of Sheridan, aren't you, Hijo?" Theresa ran a hand through her hair, trying to get it back into place. Her face was pink, having just been washed, and her eyes were no longer puffy and red from tears. "I have to look perfect for Ethan. Until he says "I do" I am not giving up on him!" She declared to her best friend, who was sitting on her bed.
"That's what you said before he asked Gwen to marry him, Theresa! Give
it up! He's marrying her, not you!" Her best friend had tried everything, and now she was just being firm. "God, Theresa, you listened to them make love, how much more proof do you need?" She asked wearily. "Until Ethan kisses the bride, I will still try to convince him that it's ME he loves!"

Chapter 3
Decisions, Decisions
"I can't let my past with Julian get out. I need to keep it a secret from the girls and T.C. They can never know the truth about my past." Eve was getting ready for the wedding, even though she knew Ivy would confront her about Sam whenever she could. "I can't let Ivy get Sam into her bed! I love Grace! But
if my family would find out about me, everything would go down the drain. What should I do God?" "I think you should stop talking to yourself and get ready for this
damned wedding! Eve, honey, stop stressing about what you should wear. You know you look beautiful either way!" With that, T.C. kissed his perfect wife on
her neck and left the room to go talk to his girls.
Eve breathed a sigh of relief, knowing that once again she had lucked out about T.C. overhearing her. "Why can't you go to the wedding, Sam?" He turned to see Grace standing there with her hands on her hips and an angry expression on her face. "Oh, Grace, I'm just tired and worried about Luis. Of course I'm still going to the wedding; I don't know why I even thought about not going!" Her hands fell from her hips and she smiled at her wonderful husband. He got up and
enveloped her into a big hug. "You're thinking of Sheridan, aren't you Hijo?" Pilar wrapped her arms
around her oldest son. She knew he felt more for the girl than he let on. She felt for him, knowing he would never have a normal relationship with the
Crane.
"Yes, mama, but not for the reason you think I am. I am still worried about her and those drug lords. They won't give up until she is dead. I've told her that, but she still won't listen!" He got up and started pacing the room. "Hijo, Sheridan is very good at taking care of herself. Plus, she has bodyguards looking after her! There is nothing to worry about! Now comb your hair, or we will be late for the wedding!" Pilar left the room, giving Luis some time to think to himself. "Of course Sheridan can take care of herself. I just wish I could look after her, too!" With that, he walked into his bathroom to straighten himself up. Meanwhile, on the other side of Harmony. "Pierre, we must kill the beautiful
Miss Crane today! Before the police find us!" Roger said to his friend. "She is the only one who can link us to Jean-Luc. We must not let that happen."

Chapter 4
Conversations Overheard
Everyone was beginning to arrive. People were chatting and gossiping
about the latest Harmony happenings, while waiters bustled over tables and flowers and such. "Oh, I'm so nervous! But in exactly eight minutes, I will be Mrs. Ethan Crane! This is so perfect! Theresa did a beautiful job, it's too bad she couldn't be in the wedding, but her brother Luis hates the Cranes well, except for Sheridan!" Gwen said to nobody in particular. Her dress was perfect, as was her hair, nails, shoes, purse and everything else.
"Hey Gwen!" Sheridan walked in to give the blond a hug and kiss before the wedding for luck. "I always knew you'd get married before me! Wow, you're getting married in five minutes!" She was smiling widely, even though she was miserable. 'I'm never going to find happiness like Gwen has! I thought Luis could be the one, but he was only using me!' Her eyes were sad, but her
smile fooled Gwen. Just then, Julian walked by, talking loudly on his cell phone.
"Oh, don't worry, father. She still doesn't know that it was an
impersonator that said those things, bot Luis! And that's the way it will stay!" He added firmly. Sheridan's ears perked up, and she listened to the rest of the conversation on the phone. "She doesn't even suspect it father! And Luis seems to believe that she's crazy. He hasn't even considered our involvement in it!" His voice slowly faded down the halls.
"Ethan, you look wonderful! I can't believe this is your wedding day!'"
Theresa exclaimed with a happy voice. She wrapped her arms around him,
and they each reveled in the feeling of being in each other's arms. When they pulled apart, her eyes deceived her happiness. They were watery, as if she were about the cry. He slowly ran his hand over her cheek, wiping away her tears in the process. He stared into her eyes for a moment, before he slowly leaned in. "Ethan, darling! What are you still doing out here? The wedding is about to start! Everybody is waiting for you out there!" He quickly pulled away and looked at his mother. He nodded to Theresa and walked out.
'What was I thinking? I almost kissed Theresa! I love Gwen! I'm
marrying GWEN! But god, Theresa looked so beautiful in there no! I love Gwen! Not Theresa!' "Yo! Whitney! What's wrong with you, girl? I have looked everywhere for you!" She turned around, only to stare into the chocolate brown eyes of Chad Harris. She immediately flashed back to their kiss, his hands on her face and tangled in her hair. The tingles running though her body, all the way down to her toes. She shook her head as if to forget about the memory. He noticed her glazed eyes and hoped she had been thinking about him. He smiled at the thought. He quickly pushed the thought out of his mind, getting back to the task at hand. "Whitney, look, I just wanted to" His voice was silenced when she grabbed him by his collar and kissed him.

Chapter 5
Truth Be Told
He was pacing now, and had been for a few moments; it was driving her
insane..
"Luis, stop! Look at me, please!" Sheridan pleaded, and he did. He
stopped in
front of her and looked into her eyes with a look that made her want to
cry.
He looked so sad, so confused, she just wanted to hold him.
"Your father and brother had an impersonator dress up like me and say
that I
was using you to get you away from me." He said slowly, as if trying to make
sure he had heard her correctly. She nodded, her eyes tearing up in the process. He noticed, and pulled her into her arms. She hugged him
fiercely, as if he was the only thing keeping her from sliding onto the floor.
After Julian had walked down the hall to continue his talk with
Alastair,
Sheridan had rushed into the chapel and pulled Luis into the church
kitchen
to talk to him in privacy. She told him exactly what she had overheard
at the
wharf, and then what she had just overheard from Julian's phone call.
"So
that's why you slapped me? And why you left for Paris? Because you
thought I
was using you?" His voice sounded heavy, but his eyes were unreadable.
Suddenly he pulled her into his arms again and kissed her with
everything he
had been holding back for the past few months. She pulled away after a
while
to get air, and he looked into her eyes, which were dark and shining
from the
kiss.
With one movement, he picked her up by the waist and lifted her onto
the
counter she was standing behind, From there, he kissed her again,
having more
access to her face and neck. His lips traveled down here neck and her
hands
went behind his head to urge him on. From behind, her legs wrapped
around his
hips, and she pulled him as close to her body as she could.
Chad responded eagerly to the kiss, wrapping his arms around Whitney's
waist
and pulling her close to him. Her arms ran up his shoulders as she
kissed
him. He deepened the kiss. "Whit? Where are you? The wedding's about to
start! Have you seen Oh, I guess you have" Theresa said, smiling, noticing
that Whitney's arms were still around her neck. "Ok, well, can you guys
continue that later? They are ready to start." With that, Theresa left
the
room. The two looked into each other's eyes, and Chad leaned in again,
but
Whitney pulled away.
"You heard her. They're ready to start." With that, Whitney rushed to
the
bathroom to reapply her lipstick. She met Theresa in there, who smiled
weakly
and mouthed "Later" and then pulled her out and into the Chapel.
5 minutes later
The music started and the voices rang pure and sweet throughout the
church.
Everybody turned his or her attention to Father Lonigan. The
bridesmaids
walked down the aisle with their partners. Then, Gwen walked down the
aisle.
Voices whispered all around at how beautiful she looked and how
beautiful the
dress was. She smiled slightly as she walked gracefully down the rose
petal
covered aisle. She stopped in front of Ethan, who put her arm in his.
They
turned to Father Lonigan, who began the ceremony. After awhile, he got
to the
vows. After Gwen said her "I do's", he turned to Ethan.
"Ethan, please repeat after me. I Ethan"
He repeated in a shaky voice. "I Ethan."
Father Lonigan continued easily. "Take thee Gwen"
"Take thee Theresa"

Chapter 6
Into The Air
"Luis I really should get back. The wedding has probably started
already "Sheridan moaned as he suckled on her neck. They had been
doing this
for over 5 minutes now, having realized about the imposter. "Umm, Luis,
as much as I'm enjoying this oh god I really should get back since Ethan needs me right now. Although I have forgotten what he needs me for" She
continued.
He finally pulled away from her and looked her in the eyes. His eyes
were
dark and his breathing heavy. "Sheridan, can't you just watch the tape
of the
wedding?" He gave her a sad look with his puppy brown eyes. He leaned
down to
kiss her again, not waiting for an answer. Her hands went up to wrap
around
his neck. Suddenly, she pulled away.
"No, Luis. As much as I want to stay and continue this, umm, I really
should go." She almost kissed him again, but stopped herself. She pulled out
of his
arms and ran out of the room and into the chapel. He decided to follow
her.
He wanted to see the wedding, too. When they got to the chapel, they
were
just in time to hear Ethan take his vows:
"I, Ethan"
"Take thee Gwen" Father Lonigan continued.
"Take thee Theresa"
"What the hell!" Luis roared. Had Ethan just said he took his sister,
Theresa? How did Ethan even know Theresa? He rushed over to where
Theresa was
sitting. "Theresa, what the hell is going on? Is there something going
on
between Ethan and you? I thought you said you were over him! How does
he even
know you?"
"Ethan...what why" Gwen couldn't come up with anything that
wouldn't sound
stupid.
Tears were steaming down her cheeks. This was supposed to be the
happiest day
of her life, and Ethan had said another girl's name! "Wait what did
you say, Luis? What's this about Theresa being over Ethan? She liked him!" The
confused look was quickly replaced by rage. "You little bitch! I
trusted you
with my fiance, and you go and have an affair with him! You pretended
to be
my friend, but really you were in love with my fiance. She was in
front of
Theresa by now, screaming at the top of her lungs. But then, she
slapped her..
"You will regret this, you whore! You will regret this!" With that,
Gwen ran
out of the church.
"Luis, I can explain." Theresa started with a shaky voice. 'Ethan said
my
name! He IS in love with me!' She thought to herself. She brought her
attention back to her brother, who looked like he would explode in
anger.
"Yeah, there's a good explanation for all of this." Ethan continued. He
walked up to Theresa and her brother. "Theresa has been working for my
mother
for a while now. We've become very close, and she helped to plan this
wedding. " He could see by the look on his face that Luis was very
angry. He
took a deep breath. Inside, he was ecstatic. 'Theresa liked me? Does
she
still? Oh god, I hope so. He was beginning to come to terms with his
feeling
with the beautiful brunette standing in front of him, tears running
down her
cheeks.
"So why did you say her name, Ethan? Huh? Are you in love with my
sister?"
Luis said in a tight voice.
"Well, you see, Luis" Ethan didn't get a chance to finish because Luis
punched him hard in the face, knocking him out cold.
"Ethan! Oh my god! Luis!" Sheridan shrieked, running to her unconscious
nephew. She looked up at Luis with fearful eyes.
"You knew about this? You knew that Theresa was working for Ivy." It
was more
of a statement than a question. His eyes were flashing and dark with
fury
when he said what he did next. "You're no better than the rest of your
family." With that, he walked away.
The community started buzzing with what had just happened. Theresa
leaned
over Ethan and stared at Sheridan, who was now crying uncontrollably.
Suddenly, a loud bang filled the air.
~*~
Chapter 7
Harmony Changes
Theresa looked down at Ethan, who was still unconscious after Luis had
knocked him out. Sheridan was crouching over her nephew, crying
hysterically..
Luis has said she was no different from the rest of her family, and it
was
tearing her up inside. Theresa tore her attention away from the man she
loved
to stare at the blond. She had no idea what had happened between the
two, but
understood the love they shared. She sympathized with Sheridan, knowing
the
pain of loving someone that she couldn't be with because of society.
She
reached over and wrapped her arms around her, hugging her tightly.
Suddenly, a loud bang filled the room. Everyone started screaming and
running
in all directions. The two girls pulled apart and looked at each other,
both
fearing the worst. Before they could get up and see what happened, a
moan
beneath them rang out. They looked down to see Ethan stirring.
"Sheridan, please stop crying in my ears! My head is killing me! Do you
have
any aspirin?" He moaned. The girls started cracking up, and he opened
his
eyes. "Theresa? What where am I?" He looked confused for a moment
before
realizing he was in the church. "Oh god where's Gwen? And Luis!" The girls
helped him to his feet before remembering the shot that had rung
through the air moments before.
"Oh my god, Ethan!" Sheridan cried before taking his hand and running
out of
the church to where everybody was standing. Theresa followed quickly
behind
them. The scene was already covered with police tape and Sam Bennett
was
checking out the area.
"What's going on? What happened?" Ethan asked confused, before looking
to see
what was happening. A body was being placed in a body bag, and the
ground was
covered with blood. Sam caught sight of a man on the roof and shouted
to the
officers around him to surround the church. The man looked panicked,
knowing
that he had been caught. He put his hands into the air, surrendering to
the
authorities.
By then, all the Harmony police were out there, including Luis. He was
talking to some people in FBI jackets, and he looked very angry. He was
shouting at them. "What do you mean? It's not going to happen! Never!
NEVER!"
He looked over at Sheridan for a moment before continuing his rage. One
of
the agents looked over and gestured Sheridan to join them. She walked
over,
and the man shook hands with her.
"Ms. Crane, I am Agent Peters of the FBI. We have come to the
conclusion that
you need a police bodyguard full-time. And we have decided that Officer
Lopez-Fitzgerald will be the man to take that position. She was filled
with
happiness for a moment before remembering Luis' argument with the men a
few
minutes ago. Her face fell, but the agent didn't notice. "Luis has
proved
time and time again to us that he wants you to be protected. We know he
has
gone to many extremes to save your life before, so we know he can
handle the
job." With that, all the agents left, leaving the two alone. Luis
looked at
her for a second before mumbling that he'd have his stuff over at her
house
by that night. With that, he walked over to tell Pilar what was going
on.
Theresa was with Ethan, alone for the first time in a while. The police
had
sent everybody home, worried for their safety and needing space to
investigate the crime scene. She looked at him, wondering what was
going on
in his head. He didn't seem to notice, though, as he approached the
police
tape. He caught a look at the lifeless body before the bag was
completely
zipped up. "Oh my god! It's it's Gwen!"
~*~
Chapter 8
Apologies and Decisions
"I just can't believe she's dead! This day has gone so quickly, so many
things have happened" Ethan trailed off as he looked up at Theresa. It was now nighttime. Theresa had gone over to Ethan's home after talking to
her
brother. He was still angry with her, but he was more upset and hurt at
Sheridan. They had talked for awhile, and his head was now resting in
her lap
while she gave him a head massage. She looked at him for a moment
before
going back to concentrating on the massage. He closed his eyes and let
out a
sigh before continuing. "I don't believe I was ever really in love
with her
though."
That last part caught her attention, and she stopped rubbing his
temples. His
eyes flew open as he realized what he had just said. Theresa was
staring at
him with a look of shock, and he looked at his hands for a moment. Her
voice
brought him back to reality. "Ethan, can I ask you something? I...I
know today
has been really stressful and you probably don't want to talk about the
wedding right now, but I have to know" She trailed off and looked
into his
eyes, searching for approval to continue. "You said my name
today instead of
Gwen's I mean. Why? Are you in love with me Ethan? She questioned.
He furrowed his brow for a moment. She couldn't take the heartbreak of
his
words, so she got up, pushing him off her lap. "Forget it. Never mind.
I need
to go. Mama is worried about me, I'm sure. She started out the door,
tears
filling her eyes. All her hopes and dreams had gone out the window,
into the
Harmony bay. Even if Gwen was gone, even if Ethan had never loved Gwen,
he
still didn't love him.
"Theresa wait!" Ethan called out after her. She ignored him and kept
walking..
"Theresa! Please! Theresa, wait!" He caught up to her and grabber her
arm,
pulling her around to face him. Before she could say anything, before
she
could even look at him, he wrapped his arms around her, tangled his
hands in
her hair. And in the doorway of his room, Ethan kissed her.
"Where should I put my stuff?" Luis asked Sheridan. She looked at him
helplessly. The cabin was still a mess, and it was pretty crowded. She
motioned her hand around her, to the mess. He shook his head and headed
to
the closet by the kitchen.
"No Luis! Don't open that" It was too late, and the crash that
sounded spoke
of it. "Door." She continued, wincing. The contents had fallen on
him, and
he was lying helplessly on the floor, covered with board games and
stuffed
animals and other things. She headed over and held out her hand to help
him
up, which he took. She pulled him up, and he held onto her hand for a
moment,
reveling in the feel of her soft skin and the sparks between him. But
the
day's events rushed back to him, and he pulled away. "I'm sorry. That
closet
hasn't been cleaned in years. It's considered a lost cause!" She smiled
at
him, hoping he wouldn't be too angry.
He didn't look too happy, but he was too tired to get mad at her right
now.
The woman drained him of his energy. A timer broke the silence. "Oh, I
made
dinner. Are you hungry?" He hadn't eaten all day, so he was starved. He
nodded, and followed her into the kitchen. The sight shocked him. The
table
was set for two, with candles lighting the room. Sheridan took out the
meal
and set it on the table. Luis was still standing at the doorway,
looking in
on the scene. She smiled shyly at him, motioning him to join her.
He slowly walked in and sat down. She served him and he cautiously
picked up
his fork. "I know how to cook, Luis! You've eaten my food before!" She
reminded him in a teasing voice. He flashed back to the breakfast she
had
made him when they thought that Martin was dead. He looked at her
before
digging in. He chewed the food for a moment before complimenting her
cooking..
She smiled and ate some of the food herself, although she wasn't very
hungry..
As she recalled the day's events, tears filled her eyes, and she let
out a
small whimper. He looked up to see her eyes water over and tears fill
her
eyes.
Luis was immediately filled with guilt. Here he was, angry and barely
even
speaking to her, when one of her friends had just been killed. Not to
mention
it was supposed to be her, not Gwen. He thought for a moment of
something to
say to comfort her. He cleared his throat before saying in a soft
voice, "I'm
sorry about Gwen." He knew it was weak, but he couldn't think of
anything
else. He was still angry with her; he couldn't help it.
She looked up at him. "Thank you." She replied just as softly. But when
she
looked into his eyes, she could see the anger and confusion was still
there.
She stared for a moment before becoming upset again. She got up, ran
out of
the room, and slammed her bedroom door. The click of the lock seemed
louder
than anything he'd ever heard before. He signed, pushed the food away,
and
put his head into his arms. And in the middle of Sheridan Crane's
kitchen, he
cried.

Chapter 9
Living With Changes
She couldn't believe it! Ethan was kissing her, and this definitely
wasn't a
fantasy. His hands were running through her hair and holding her face,
and he
was kissing her! He had been for a while now. She wasn't complaining!
It was
finally happening! Suddenly, he pulled away and looked in her eyes.
"Theresa, I'm" He trailed off when he noticed the look in her eyes.
She was
smiling, and he eyes were sparkling more than he'd ever seen them
before.
'Could this mean Theresa has feelings for me too? I thought she only
loved
Chuck!' He thought to himself.
"What? Ethan, you're what? Are you sorry that you kissed me, Ethan?"
Theresa
asked in a soft, hurt voice. 'This can't be happening! Don't let him be
sorry! Let him love me, let him tell me he loves me, please God!' She
thought. He looked down for a moment before resting his forehead
against
hers. He shook his head no, taking a shaky breath. "Ethan, look at me.
Please"
He looked into her eyes. He looked so lost, so confused. "Theresa, I
don't
regret kissing you. I've never felt anything like I did when I kissed
you.
But I mean do you? Regret kissing me, I mean." His voice was
trembling and
he pulled his eyes away from hers. She smiled; he sounded so cute and
unsure
of himself. Wrapping her hands around his neck, she forced him to look
into
her eyes before pulling his head down to kiss her again.
Sheridan threw herself onto her bed and started sobbing. "He hates me!
He
really hates me!" She cried in a choked voice. She had known he was
angry
with her, but the way he had acted at dinner, the look in his eyes,
were
almost hateful. After sobbing for a few minutes, she calmed down.
Slowly, she
got up, and went to her bookcase. She took out a small notebook and
opened it
up, and flipped to an empty page. She picked up her pen and started
writing
furiously. The tears came again, dropping onto the pages and leaving
wet
marks. She wrote whatever she thought, not bothering to see if it
sounded
right. After what seemed like forever, she put the book down and lay
down and
went to sleep, leaving the book open beside her on the bed.
"Long day, huh Whit?" Chad asked, trying to fill the silence. The two
were
walking around Harmony, trying to get away from her family. He hadn't
mentioned their kiss yet; he was hoping she would bring it up first.
"I
still can't believe everything that happened. Ethan saying Theresa's
name,
Luis finding out about her working for the Cranes, Gwen dying…" He
trailed
off and looked at the girl walking next to him.
She continued in a soft voice," Me kissing you." He stopped at that,
not
believing what she had just said. He pulled her around to face him.
'God, in
this moonlight, she looks so beautiful! Hell, she looks so beautiful
anytime,
in any light!' He thought, smiling.
"Whit, I know this has been a long day, and a lot has happened with
you with
everyone really! And over the past few months, you've learned to put up
with
me." She smiled at his little joke, remembering how they used to fight.
"But,
well, if it's too confusing right now for us to get involved I'll be
cool
with that. I don't want to pressure you or whatever. " He didn't even
look at
her with the last statement, instead studying the wet road beneath him.
He
started walking again, and she continued after him.
"Chad! Wait!" She pulled on his arms, turning him around face him.
"What
makes you think I wouldn't want to start anything? Just because of
what
happened with Gwen and Ethan and Theresa? Or what happened with Luis
and
Sheridan? Chad, I'm upset about Gwen, but I barely knew the woman! As
for
Theresa, yeah, I'm worried about what she's getting into with Ethan.
Luis and
Sheridan can work out their own problems. But why would that affect the
way I
feel about you? It hasn't."
"Whitney Russell, are you saying that you want to start something with
me?
You have feelings for me? Oh my god! Call the Harmony Herald!" Chad
teased,
pretending to sound shocked. She smacked his arm, and he took the
opportunity
to pull her to him. "Because, Ms. Russell, the truth is, I have
feelings for
you too." With that, he lowered his head to hers and kissed her.

Chapter 10
Revelations
Sheridan's eyes felt like they were burning under the sunlight. She
reached
up and touched them, only to find them puffy from crying. She sighed
heavily
before opening her eyes, only to be blinded by the light. Blinking a
few
times, she finally awoke to the morning. The previous day's events
rushed
back to her, and she let out a long moan.
"Sheridan? Is that you? Are you okay? Are you awake?" Luis called out
with
some concern in his voice. 'He's only doing his job' Sheridan told
herself.
She wished she could bury herself under the covers and never wake up. A
knock
on her bedroom door got her out of it. "Sheridan?" Luis called again.
She got
up and opened the door, putting on a fake smile for Luis.
"Yeah, I'm okay, Luis. Thanks; I was just adjusting to the light. It
was
really bright and it surprised me, that's all." She lied, crossing her
fingers under her robe. He nodded an understanding, and she walked with
him
into the kitchen, where coffee, toast, and eggs sat waiting. "You
didn't have
to make breakfast, Luis", she said helplessly.
"Hey after that dinner last night, I wanted to make it up to you.
Besides,
you were sleeping, and I didn't want to disturb you. " He replied. They
sat
and ate in silence for a few minutes before Sheridan broke the silence.
"Umm, Luis?" He looked up. "I was kind of in the mood for a jog this
morning..
I need some exercise fresh air would be really nice. And since you ARE
my
bodyguard, I figured I should ask you." She looked at him with big
eyes, and put on a puppy face.
That got him, and he started cracking up. She giggled too, and then
looked at
him questioningly. He nodded before responding. "Sheridan, it is okay
for you
to go about your normal life, you know. You can go jogging or swimming
or
shopping, whatever you want. I just have to do all that stuff with you. So
the question is do you want to go jogging if I tag along?" He
finished before
getting up to clear away the dishes. "Yeah, Luis. Of course I'd want to go if you came along. I knew you had
to
come, I just wasn't sure if I could go." She got up and started helping
him
with the dishes. He started looking for soap, and she stood behind him
to get
it from the cabinet. 'You have to calm down! She's just another girl.
Just
another girl! Why are you so affected by her?' He thought to himself,
not
convincing himself that Sheridan really was just another girl. He
turned
around, bumping into her. They looked into each other's eyes for a
second
before Luis tore his eyes away. After changing, they left the cottage.
Over an hour later
"I told you I would beat you! You suck, Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald!"
Sheridan
exclaimed in a teasing voice, pointing her finger at him. "Which means
that
you are fixing dinner tonight!" She finished in a happy voice before
cracking
up.
Luis held up his hands in defeat. "Okay, okay; you won, I lost! I'll
cook
tonight! But just so you know…I let you win!" He finished. This made
her
laugh even harder, and he smiled too. "Oh, so you think you could
actually
beat me at running?" He challenged. He looked up and nodded with a
silly look
on her face. "Yeah, well maybe you could. But you can't beat me at
this!" He
grabbed her and spun her so that her back was to him. He started
tickling her
stomach, and she shrieked. He tickled her even harder, and she pressed
up
against him.
"Luis!" She cried breathlessly. "Luis stop! I give up! Uncle, uncle!
Mercy!"
Sheridan screamed, trying to think of something to make him stop the
tickle
torture. She started backing up, and he tripped, landing both of them
on the
couch. She took the opportunity to change positions. She straddled his
lap
and started tickling him hard, making him wiggle all over the place.
After a
few minutes he grabbed her wrists and she fell on top of him. The
laughter
subsided when they realized their positions, and they looked deep into
each
other's eyes for the second time that day. And for the second time,
Luis
broke away.
"Umm, I don't know about you, but I need a shower. The other one is
broken,
so can I use the one in your room?" He asked in a tense voice. She
nodded
silently, and he left. "God, why do I keep thinking things are okay
with us?
He doesn't love me!" She cried to herself, putting her head in her
hands.
Luis walked into her room, talking to himself as he walked. "Man, after
that
I need a cold shower! I can't keep doing this! It's only our first day
living
together, and already she's gotten to me!" He stopped when he got to
her bed..
An open book on it caught his attention, and he picked it up, flipping
the
pages. The pages were worn and filled with Sheridan's handwriting. He
stopped
on a page and read the small poem.
Be still, be steady
My heart won't
Be calm
When you enter the room.
Wrong
So wrong
These feelings
But still so right.
He checked the date. "Wait a minute. She wrote this right after we
got back
from New Mexico!" He realized. He flipped through the pages, and
different
poems about love and happiness, and later heartbreak filled his eyes.
He
stopped on the last written page and read it once, twice, ten times.
When will I learn?
Of the world as it is?
My heart has seen only pain
And heartbreak.
Still I dream
Of a life
Of love
And happiness.
Of a life where we can be together
Without tricks and games
Without society's interruptions?
Perhaps never?
Perhaps I should stop
My simple childish dreaming.
He checked the date of the poem. "Wait, that can't be right! Sheridan
wrote
this last night?" The realization dawned on him as what she had been
going
through. He had forgotten about everything she had told him, of her
dreams of
a true love and how she didn't believe they would come true. His heart
broke
as he read over the words one more time before making a decision. He
put the
book down and went to take his shower.
That Night
A knock at her door sent her out of her fantasy about her and Luis. She
opened the door, and Luis held out his hand to her. "Madame?" He said
in a
simple voice. She took his hand, and he led her to the kitchen. She
gasped in
surprise at the scene. Candles were everywhere, and soft music was
playing in
the background. "Luis" Sheridan spoke in a soft voice, but he silenced her. He pulled
out her
chair and she sat down, still mesmerized by what he had done. He served
her
some food, a Spanish chicken and rice, along with brightly colored
vegetables. She gently picked up her fork and dug into the meal. She
moaned
with pleasure it tasted so good. Luis shivered when she did so. He
flashed
back to their kiss from yesterday, god it seemed so long ago. They ate
in
silence, looking longingly at their partner, though the other never
noticed.
A familiar song came on, and Luis stopped. It was the song they had
danced to
on New Year's eve, and both were remembering that night. Slowly, he got
up
and extended his hand towards her. She looked up at him, then back at
his
hand.
"For old times sake?" He asked in a soft voice. She nodded and took his
hand..
He pulled her close to him, and they swayed silently to the music, her
head
resting on his shoulder. Another slow song came on, and they kept
dancing,
lost in the feel of each other. He pulled back and looked into her eyes
before speaking. "Sheridan I'm so, so sorry about the way I've treated you
the past days. I reacted really strongly to the news that Theresa was
working
for your family, and you didn't deserve what I said to you. Sheridan, I
didn't mean a word of it. You are unlike any woman that I have ever met
before. You're beautiful and fun and sweet and caring and funny" He
trailed
off for a moment. Her eyes were filled with tears, and she was smiling
brightly at him. He took a shaky breath before continuing. "And I'm in
love
with you." The tears started running down her cheeks when he said that,
and
he rubbed them away. She wrapped her arms around him and held onto him
tightly. He held her for a few minutes, relieved that he had gotten it
all
out and worried that she didn't feel the same way.
"I love you too." She said against his neck, and he barely heard her.
She
pulled back and stroked his cheek. "I love you so much, Luis." He
smiled and
pulled her close to him again. He tilted her chin up to look into his
eyes,
and he leaned down to kiss her. His arms went around her and she ran
her
hands through his hair, tangling them into it and deepening the kiss.
His
arms ran up and down her back and she stepped even closer to him. After
what
seemed like eternity, they pulled apart, and Luis rested his forehead
against
hers, gasping for breath. He looked into her eyes, and knew that there
was no
turning back, no interruption, tonight. He slowly leaned down and
kissed her
again, trying to make it soft and loving. It quickly became more
passionate,
and they tumbled towards her bedroom, slamming the door behind them.

Chapter 11
Undoing The Strings
"I will not permit it, Whitney! I will not permit that...that street
punk to
date you!" Eve yelled at her daughter for the millionth time. "I
understand
if you want to be friends with him. And since he did save your life, I
will
permit that. But I will not stand by and watch as you throw your life
and
future away dating CHAD HARRIS!" She finished, crossing her arms in front of
her. "Mom, Chad is not a street punk. He's a nice guy, and it's not his
fault he
was forced to live on the streets. It's not his fault he doesn't know
who his
family is. If you want to blame someone, blame his mom, because she was
too
irresponsible to care for him as a baby. Don't blame him for his
parent's
mistakes! God knows he is trying to change things, trying to find his
parents
and live a better life!" Whitney glared at her mom, angry that she was
being
so judgmental about something Chad couldn't do anything about. Eve
winced at
her words, especially the ones about Chad's mother. She seemed to think
about
what her daughter had said for a few moments before giving in.
"Okay Whitney, you have my blessing. Your father is fine with it as
well. But
please...be careful. And remember, if you ever feel uncomfortable, you
can
always say no. And call me if there is a chance of drinking or drugs.
Okay?"
She asked in a defeated tone. Her daughter had won, putting up a good
fight.
'She really cares about Chad. It's not even like he's my son. My son
died.
Ivy doesn't know what she's talking about.'
"Thank you mom. And don't worry, Chad would never pressure me into
anything.
He's not like that!" Whitney said, giving her mom a big hug. Just then,
the
doorbell rang. "That's Chad right now! I'll get it" Whitney ran off to
the
door and opened it to find Chad standing there. She smiled big at him
and he
smiled back, knowing her mom was okay with it. He pulled her to him and
started kissing her. She wrapped her arms around him and responded to
the
kiss, not even hearing footstep's coming down the stairs. But when
Simone
started yelling and crying, Whitney did notice.
The sheets were still damp with sweat from the night before, and
wrinkled
really badly. Luis felt around the bed for her, but found nothing. He
quickly
opened his eyes, only to be nearly blinded by the bright sun. But when
his
eyes adjusted, the most beautiful sight in the world caught his eye.
Sheridan
sat staring out the window with a dreamy look on her face, wearing
nothing
but a silk robe. He quietly got out of bed and walked up behind her.
Wrapping
his arms around her waist, he slowly kissed up her neck. She started
giggling
and moaning simultaneously, which only aroused him more. Slowly she
turned to
face him and he caught her mouth in a hungry kiss. His tongue slowly
explored
her mouth while his hands did the same with her body. Sheridan's hands
were
torturing him, running slowly over his chest and stomach. They finally
broke
apart for air and looked into each other's eyes. She shivered when she
saw
how dark and filled with desire his were, while hers were sparkling
with
fire. Luis gently picked her up and carried her to the bed, where they
made
love again.
"Knock, Knock" an angelic vice called out, breaking Ethan out of his
daydream. He got up and opened his door and let Theresa in, closing the
door
behind him. Last night they had talked for hours, sorting out
everything. He
had been angry about the "Chuck" thing, but realized she did it for
him,
because she loved him. He couldn't stay angry with her. They had
finally
decided to take it slow. Because while her family would gladly welcome
him
into their arms, Ethan's family would try everything in their power to
break
them apart. It had happened to Luis and Sheridan, and they wouldn't
allow it
to happen to them. She smiled shyly at him. She had always dreamed of
being
with him. But now that it was happening, she didn't know what to do.
"Hi", he started, smiling back at the brunette. She giggled lightly and
looked at him with inviting eyes. He walked over to where she stood and
swept
the hair out of her face. Slowly, he leaned down and brushed his lips
against
hers in a light kiss. Theresa wrapped her arms around him and deepened
the
kiss. His hands ran down her sides and he pulled her close to his body.
When
they pulled apart, he looked into his eyes. Slowly, he took her hand in
his
and led her out the room. "Come On. Let's go talk to my parents."
I can't tell Sam the truth! He'd hate me if he knew it. Oh, but I wish
he
would forget about that Betty Crocker wannabe wife of his, even for
just one
night of passion with me! I know it would be enough to convince him
that its
me he loves and not that tomato-soup cake baking Grace. Oh, but if I
told him
about Ethan, he'd have that connection and have to come running to me.
Maybe
I will tell him that Ethan really is his son and not Julian's." Ivy
said,
trying to push herself to tell the love of her life the truth.
"What the hell did you just say! Ethan is Sam Bennet's son! Not mine?
Oh Ivy,
you are going to get it." Julian shouted.

Chapter 12
Bad Timing
Whitney opened the door to find Chad standing behind it. She broke into
a
huge grin and nodded, and he smiled, knowing they had her parent's
approval.
In a flash, Chad pulled her into his arms and lowered his lips to hers.
Wrapping her hands around his neck, she opened her mouth to him and he
deepened the kiss. They were so caught up with each other that they
didn't
hear footsteps come down the stairs.
"What the hell? Whitney! What are you doing kissing Chad!" Simone
screeched
loudly. They broke apart to look at Whitney's sister's tear-stained
face.
Whitney looked down guiltily, knowing her sister had a thing for Chad.
Angry,
Simone marched up and grabber Whitney's arm to get her attention. "I
asked
you a question! Answer me!" She shouted, tears running down her cheeks.
"Yo, girl, cool down. Me and Whit are a thing now, aight? I know your
just
trying to protect me 'cause we're friends, but don't worry, aight?
We're both
okay with each other now. Thanks though you're a pal." He said,
smiling down
at the girl. He wrapped his arm around Whitney's waist as he talked,
and
looked at her half of the time. Simone nodded, knowing her dreams of
being
with Chad were over. She moved close to him and he wrapped her into a
hug.
From behind, she glared meanly at her sister, but smiled at Chad when
he
pulled back.
"Uh, Simone, I think Kay wanted you to go over to her house." Whitney
spoke
up. Once again, se got the evil eye from her sister. But she quickly
walked
out, leaving the two lovebirds alone again. Whitney once again smiled
shyly
at Chad. He pulled her back into his arms and kissed her deeply. She
smiled
against his lips before responding to his kiss.
"Ethan is Sam Bennet's son, Ivy? And not mine? Oh, Ivy, you have a lot
of
explaining to do!" Julian roared loudly. Ivy winced, realizing she had
been
caught. There was no way out of it this time. Slowly, she turned to
meet the
angry eyes of her husband. "Answer me, Ivy", Julian spat out.
"Well, Julian, umm...it's a funny story really. See, umm, before you
and I were
married Sam Bennett and I had a relationship. And well, then I was
forced to
marry you. And I thought that you loved me, so it was fine. But when I
overheard you conversation with Alastair about it being a business
thing and
nothing else, I ran off. As you remember. That night I ran to Sam's
place, to
be with him one last time. I loved him Julian, and to learn that I was
to be
stuck in a loveless marriage for the rest of my life" She trailed
off in a
teary voice and looked into Julian's eyes. His arms were crossed in
front of
him and his eyes were stone cold. She continued. "Sam and I spent the
night
together, one last time. The next morning I returned here." She said
angrily,
sweeping her arm around the mansion. "A while later I learned that I
was
pregnant.
So I realized I had to sleep with you, to pass it off as our
baby instead of Sam's and mine. Our wedding night was the last time I
ever
slept with Sam. I didn't even see him again for over twenty years! So I
understand if you want to do the worst you can to me, but please,
Julian don't hurt Sam. He doesn't even know about Ethan." Ivy
finished,
pleading with him.
Julian's eyes softened for a moment at the touching story, but then he
realized what she had just said. His eyes once again became
indifferent, and
he shot her an icy glare. "Ivy" He couldn't find the words for a
moment. "I
want you and that bastard son of yours out of this house! And
don't even
TRY to get good lawyers, because mine will use all of their power and
mine
too to bring you down." He shouted. Just then, Ethan and Theresa came
down
the stairs, holding hands.
"Mother, Father. We have something very important to discuss." Ethan
stated,
squeezing Theresa's hand reassuringly. He noticed the way Julian was
glaring
at Ivy, and the way Ivy was looking down wordlessly. She didn't even
seem to
notice the couple. Julian took one last look at her before turning
angrily to
the pair holding hands.
"You." Julian said heatedly. "Did you know about this? You...you
bastard! Don't
call me Father! I'm not your father! You want to talk to your father,
pay a
visit to Sam Bennett. That's right, the chief of police. He's your
father.
Oh, and take the slut you so innocently call your mother with you. Take
your
things and hers and GET OUT! TONIGHT!" Julian shouted, clenching his
fists.
Ethan looked to his mother, to Julian, and down to Theresa, then back
to his
mother. "I knew you couldn't be a Crane boy. You don't have the power
in you..
You're nothing but a bastard, and an idiot. Stop standing around! I
want you
out of this house by dusk!" Julian shouted, glaring angrily at Ethan.
After a few moments, Ethan slowly turned to Theresa and looked into her
yes,
a sad look in his eyes. "So how do you feel about me now?" He asked
sadly.
With that, how turned and ran out of the mansion and didn't look back.
Theresa stared after him a moment before turning to Julian.
"How could you be so cold? Even if he isn't your son? How could you
just
throw him out like that? He didn't know about this!" With that, she ran
out
of the house, after the man she loved.

Chapter 13
Out Of The Dark
It was dusk now. All day, she had wondered about Harmony, searching for
Ethan. All the places with memories, all the places she had gone with
him or
he had told about, she went to: The burger hut, the ballet, the movies,
the
docks, the church, even the park where they had shared their first
kiss. Now
she was just walking aimlessly. Little kids ran past her, screaming and
laughing. Theresa smiled when she realized where she had walked. The
fairgrounds. She slowed down, and took everything in. The air seemed
filled
with history, memories, youth. 'Things were so easy back then even a
year
ago.' She thought sadly. She looked up, and a sad smile crossed her
face. By
a blank billboard, his head in his hands sat Ethan.
Slowly, she walked up, and lay a hand on his shoulder before sitting
down
with him. Slowly, he lifted his head up and looked at her with sad
eyes. They
were red and puffy, and tear stains marked his cheeks. Theresa put her
arm
around his and stroked his back soothingly, and pulled him to her. He
lay his
head in her arms and closed his eyes. They sat in silence for a few
moments
before Ethan spoke up. "I was just walking, and I felt something
pulling me
here. Do you remember, Theresa?" He continued before she could speak.
"This
is where we first met. You spilled that god-awful paint on me here.
Right on
this spot." Her body shook with laughter at the memory, and after a
moment
his did too. He opened his eyes and his eyes turned serious. "It was
the
luckiest day of my life. It was the day I met you." He said in a soft
voice.
Her eyes teared at this, and she ran her hand down his cheek. Ethan
sighed,
but then pulled away. "Theresa you heard Julian. I'm not what you
think I am.
I'm...I'm a Bennett." With the last comment, he turned away from her
and put
his head down again.
After a moment of silence, she spoke up. "Ethan I don't care if your
last
name is Smith or Jones! I love you for who you are. And no matter what,
you
will always be Ethan. I love you for you, not your name! Ethan look
at me!"
She commanded. He turned and looked her in the eye. Her voice softened
as she
said, "You're not going to get rid of me that easily!" He looked her in
the
eyes, and when he saw that she was sincere, he pulled her into a fierce
hug.
Theresa ran her hands soothingly through his hair and down his back,
sending
shivers through his whole body. They just clung to each other until a
clap of
thunder sounded and rain started pouring down. She started giggling and
he
broke apart to look into her eyes. Smiling, he took her hand, and they
ran
around in the rain, not caring how wet they got.
"So since I cooked last night, tonight is your turn." Luis said in a
teasing
voice, wrapping his arms around Sheridan's waist. "Unless, of course,
you
want to order in" He trailed off as he started kissing her neck. Her
light
giggles were music to his ears. Sheridan slowly brought her hands to
his face
and caressed his cheeks, bringing his up to face him.
"Luis there's something I have to confess." She said. He looked at
her
questioningly and she put a finger on his lips before he could speak.
"That
dinner we had two night ago I didn't cook it. I..I can't cook. I ordered it
from this restaurant before you came." She said in an almost
embarrassed
tone. She looked down, but he forced her to look into his eyes.
"Sheridan I knew. I umm I found the boxes!" He said, laughing
softly. Her
mouth dropped open and she smacked his arm. Luis started cracking up,
and she
cracked a smile too. "How about I teach you to cook? It's really not
that
hard" He gave her a questioning look and then made his puppy eyes,
which
made her melt right there. She nodded, and he started moving around the
kitchen, taking out foods and pots and pans. Taking Sheridan's hand, he
pulled her to the stove, and stood behind her. He opened a package of
steak,
along with some spices and sauces. He explained what he was doing as he
mixed
some things together in a big bowl, and she silently watched, nodding
as he
went along.
He reached down and picked her hands up into his and then placed them
into
the bowl, along with some meat.
She squealed at the mushy concoction,
but was
silenced by his lips on her ear. She let out a soft moan and felt his
hands
close and open with hers, mixing up the meat and seasonings. Soon
enough, a
wonderful smell met her nose as everything started blending together.
After a
while, they placed a batch of meatballs into the oven. Luis then took
out
some pasta and told her how to boil it perfectly. Then they started on
the
sauce and finally a salad. About an hour later everything was done and
smelled amazing. Sheridan mixed up the spaghetti and served the dinner.
After
tasting it, she let out a happy cry and sat on Luis's lap.
"Luis, thank you so much! You have no idea how good it feels to know
that you
care enough to teach me to cook. Everyone thought I was a lost cause!"
She
stated and gave him a big kiss. It started out playful, but quickly
turned
passionate. Finally they broke apart and Luis rested his forehead
against
Sheridan's.
"You know, I'm not really that hungry. At least…not for food." He
said in a
low voice. She smiled down at him before kissing him again. This time,
she
broke it off quickly. Reluctantly, she got off of his lap and sat back
down
in front of her plate and resumed eating the delicious meal. After
staring
longingly at her for a minute, Luis did the same. Their eyes met and
Sheridan
smiled teasingly before mouthing 'later' to him. He smiled and nodded
before
going back to the dinner.
Pilar, hello. Oh my god, please, come out of that rain and dry off!"
Sam
said, opening the door to his longtime friend. She slowly stepped in
and
smiled slightly. Her eyes were troubled, and Sam noticed. "Pilar, what
is it?
What's wrong?" He asked worriedly. They sat down together.
"Oh, Sam, it's not good" She trailed off and looked around. "Where
is
Grace?" She asked. Sam told her that Grace was sleeping upstairs, as
were the
girls. Pilar nodded slowly before getting to why she was at the Bennett
house. "Julian kicked Ivy out, along with Ethan." She blurted out. Sam
looked
up with upset eyes and stood up quickly.
"What? Why? Pilar what's going on? Why would he do that? I mean it
must be
bad." He started pacing around the room. After a moment, he stopped and
stood
before her again. "How is she?" He asked, his eyes pleading and his
voice
soft and upset. She shook her head, knowing the chief of police still
loved
her friend, much as he tried to deny it. She explained everything
slowly, not
missing a single detail. When she was done, he buried his head in his
hands.
Slowly, he looked up again. In an almost childish voice, he asked, "So
Ethan
is MY son not Julian's?" His eyes were unreadable as he spoke. A
crash
sounded behind them, and he turned around. In a shaky voice, he said a
single
name. "Grace."

Chapter 14
End Of The Road
Theresa walked hand in hand with Ethan down the beach. The rain had
stopped
and the sun was just about to go down. Both of them were soaking wet
from
chasing each other in the rain, but still smiles lit their faces. Ethan
pulled Theresa to a stop next to the cliffs. She looked at him
questioningly
and he walked ahead and started climbing. Every few steps he'd turn
around
and help her up. Soon enough they reached the top, and Ethan pulled
Theresa
in front of him. He wrapped his arms around her waist and buried his
head in
her silky hair and inhaled the sweet scent.
She giggled lightly and he tightened his grasp around her waist. He
looked up
and rested his chin on her shoulder and together they watched the
sunset.
Golden oranges and bright pinks and light purples replaced the normally
blue
sky, and the sun was an amazing shade of pink. A cold breeze started
blowing
and Theresa shivered against Ethan. Immediately, he started rubbing her
arms
to help her warm up, enjoying the feel of her soft skin under his
hands.
Slowly, Theresa turned her head to the side and Ethan lowered his head
to
kiss her. Her hand went up to cup his cheek, and she turned to deepen
the
kiss. They stayed kissing until the breeze started up again, and they
were
forced to climb back down. The cliff would forever remain their special
place.
"Dinner was great, Sheridan. I'm really glad you let me help you cook."
Luis
said with a smile, pulling her into his lap. Sheridan smiled down at
him and
wrapped her arms around his neck. His eyes darkened with desire at her
touch,
and he pulled her into a passionate kiss. His hands wrapped around her
waist
as his tongue slowly ran over her lips. Sheridan's shaky moan sent
tingles
down his body while he explored her mouth.
After a moment, she broke the kiss and stood up. The cold air rushed to
him
and he shot her a confused look. Smiling, she straddled him, one knee
on
either side of his legs. Luis let out a low, throaty moan as she
started
kissing down his neck. His hands wrapped around her waist and pulled
her even
closer to his body. He could feel every inch of her, and he knew she
could
too. She moaned at the contact, so he knew he was right. Her hands
slowly
started caressing his chest as she continued kissing and suckling on
his neck
and ears. "God, baby, you're driving me crazy. Are you trying to kill
me with
this sweet torture?" He asked in a rough voice filled with desire.
"It's torture for me too, Luis." Sheridan replied in a hoarse voice. It
was
true. She could feel every inch of him underneath her and it drove her
crazy.
She also couldn't help but shiver when he called her "baby". It sounded
so
intimate, so secure. His hands ran up her body to the back of her neck.
He
pulled her up to look into his eyes, which were nearly black with
desire.
Sheridan gasped at the heavy look he gave her before he pulled her down
to
kiss her hard. Her hands tangled in his soft hair and he stood up,
taking her
with him. She wrapped her legs around his waist and continued kissing
him as
her carried her to her bedroom.
"Grace! Oh umm, hey honey! I thought you were sleeping." Sam said,
nervously.
He looked into her eyes and saw that she had heard everything. Her eyes
burned with anger and hurt and her fists were clenched at her sides.
Sam took
a deep breath before walking over to his wife and running his hands
down her
arms. Grace jerked away and shot Pilar a look. She got up and quickly
left
the room, slamming the door behind her.
Sam made another move to get Grace to look at him, but she wouldn't
have it.
She forcefully pushed him away from her, as if the touch of him was
like
venom from a snake. She stood silent for a moment before saying in a
calm
voice filled with anger. "I don't care what your explanation is you
lied to
me. All these years, you told me there was nobody else, that there were
no
secrets you lied to me right from the start! I don't want to hear
it!" She
screamed when Sam opened his mouth to talk. Tears started streaming
down her
cheeks. "I don't think you'll be able to find a lawyer good enough to
help
you win this case! I'm taking the girls with me. I want a divorce."
Chapter 15
The Big Picture
Sam looked up in shock at what Grace had just said. After a moment, he
found
his voice, although it was very shaky. "Grace, you don't mean that.
I...I know
I haven't been honest with you about Ivy, but it's all in my past. The
truth
is, she broke my heart when she married Julian, but when I met you, the
pain
went away. Honey, you are everything to me. Why would I want to make
you
worry by bringing up something from so long ago, something that doesn't
even
matter? It would only have made you nervous around her, and baby, I
don't
want you to think you have to be nervous about anyone. I love you, and
only
you. Nothing could ever change that!" Sam said, pleading with his wife
not to
leave him.
It really was the truth. Grace had taken away all the pain from his
break-up
with Ivy, something he never thought possible. Even if him and the
blond did
share a son, him and Grace shared 3 beautiful girls and a son as well.
They
had over 20 years or memories and love between them and it meant more
to him
then any summer fling nobody knew about ever could. Grace's eyes
softened at
her husbands words and she flung her arms around him. "Oh, Sam, I'm so
sorry
I over-reacted.
It's just all the shock from the wedding and then to
hear
about this. I love you so much honey!" Sam wrapped his arms around his
wife
and sighed with relief. He had almost lost her because of Ivy. Although
at
one point in his life he would've done anything to have her back, he
had
moved on. He loved Grace with all his heart, and nothing could change
that.
Sheridan and Luis lay entangled in each other's arms in her bed, their
breathing heavy and their skin flushed. Sheridan's head lay on his
shoulder
while his hands drew lazy circles on her back. Luis lay deep in
thought,
wondering what the future would bring the two and how her family would
deal
with it. He knew the Cranes were hiding something, because the imposter
thing
was too serious to be thought of as protection. He knew he should
arrest
Julian and Alastair, and wanted so much to do so. But they were
Sheridan's
family, even if they didn't give a damn about her.
Sheridan picked her head off of Luis's shoulder and looked up at him.
He was
staring into space and had a confused expression on his face. "Penny
for your
thoughts" She asked in a simple voice. Luis snapped out of his daydream
and
looked into her eyes.
Smiling apologetically, he responded "sorry, I drifted away for a
minute".
She smiled softly at him, still curious as to what he had been thinking
about. Luis noticed this and went on. "I was just thinking about your
family." Sheridan grimaced, knowing his feelings for her family was not
exactly friendly. His eyes were soft and caring as he brushed his
fingers
through her soft hair. "It's just, the whole imposter thing it really
has me
curious. Baby, you have to admit, it seems pretty suspicious to do
something
along those lines with nothing to hide."
Sheridan pulled away and sat up, wrapping herself in a sheet. Her eyes
were
hurt. She took a deep breath before replying in a shaky voice. "Luis, I
really don't want to talk about this. It hurts to know my father and
brother
could do something like this to me. God, I would give anything to not
be part
of this family anymore, to not be a Crane anymore." Her eyes filled
with
tears and she refused to look at him. Luis placed his hand gently on
her
cheek and turned her head to make her look into his eyes.
He sat there silently for a moment, as if debating what to say or how
to say
it. Finally, he looked into her blue eyes. "What if you didn't have to
be a
Crane anymore, Sheridan? I mean, what if, one day, you'd become a
Lopez-Fitzgerald? What I'm trying to say is will you marry me?" She
sucked in
a breath at his words. He looked away, knowing her answer. Why would
she want
to marry him, a poor cop, and her maid's son? Her family would never
allow
it. He couldn't believe he'd done that to himself.
Her voice brought him back to reality. "Oh, Luis! Of course I'll marry
you!"
She cried happily. His head shot up and he broke out into a huge grin.
Wrapping his arms around her, Luis pulled her into a big hug and then
brought
his lips down to meet hers in a deep, slow kiss. The world seemed to
stop for
just that one moment, as they sat kissing, like they were the only two
people
alive.
THE END!!!
