(At the police station)
Luis walked over and sat at Sam's desk. It had been a long day. He
couldn't wait to go home. He couldn't wait to be with his Sheridan
any longer.
"Hey, Sam?"
"Yeh?"
"Would you mind if I could go home just a little bit early? I've
finished all my work and.."
"That's fine with me, Luis. Go on home..I'll see you tomorrow."
"Thanks." Luis replied as he grabbed his jacket and walked out the
door of the police station.
(At Luis and Sheridan's house)
Sheridan paced back and forth in Luis and her bedroom. It had been a
long time since they had been able to be together all night. But she
couldn't blame Luis. It wasn't his fault. Luis was just doing his
job and trying to provide a living for them.
*Flashback*
"I love you, Sheridan Lopez-Fitzgerald." Luis whispered softly in
her ear.
"I love you too." Sheridan replied kissing him passionately. She
couldn't believe that they had actually been married that day. They
were so happy. Their passionate love for eachother couldn't have
been stronger.
"I still can't believe it." Luis sighed.
"That we're married?" Sheridan asked.
"Not only that..but I can't believe that I'm married to an angel."
Sheridan kissed him lovingly and Luis never wanted to let go of her.
She didn't ever want him to either.
Just then, Sheridan heard the door open which ended her flashback.
"Luis?" Sheridan called out while running down the stairs to find
her husband walking in the door. "Luis! What are you doing home? I
thought that.." And before she could say any more, Luis longily kissed her
as if he hadn't in a hundred years. Sheridan didn't try to break away and
ask him anymore questions. She felt so right in his arms once again. She
loved the way he made everything right. After what seemed an eternity, they
finally stopped kissing, but didn't move away from eachother. He stood there
with his hands in her hair while she had her arms wrapped tightly around
him. Luis picked her up in his strong arms and brought her upstairs into
their room where he layed her down underneath him. They had both waited to
be in eachothers arms again for a long time. And just as they were
passionately kissing once again, Luis's pager went off. It was an emergency
request from the police station. Both their smiles faded when he told
Sheridan he had to go back. He could see the pain in Sheridan's eyes. He
knew what this did to her, and what it did to him, but he had to go. Luis
said goodbye, and went back to the police station. Sheridan lay there, still
in bed, and let a tear stream down her face. She didn't think that Sam
Bennett would actually call in Luis on their wedding anniversary. She got up
out of bed and went into the bathroom to take a long hot shower, alone, once
again.
(At Sheridan and Luis's house)
Sheridan walked into the bathroom to take a shower, all alone, once
again. She stood there and let the hot water run down her, yet she
still felt so cold. She remembered the first night Luis had told her
he loved her.
*Flashback*
Sheridan had been waiting for her and Luis's weekend escape. He had
told her to drive up to their cabin in the woods. She could hardly
wait. Her suspense couldn't have been greater when she pulled up to
the cabin and got out. She opened the door to find lit candles and
rose petals everywhere. A wonderful aroma of Plumeria filled the
room. Her favorite. She hung her coat up in the closet and followed
the candles which led upstairs. They stopped in the only bedroom in
the house in front of a vanity mirror. There sat a small box that
had her name on it. She opened it and found the most beautiful ring
she had ever seen. All of a sudden two arms slipped around her waist
and turned her around to face him. It was Luis. "Luis.." Sheridan
said startled. "I need to ask you something, Sheridan." he asked
staring deeply into her icy blue eyes. "Yes?" Sheridan replied
breathlessly for Luis was holding her so closely that she was weak. "Well, I
wanted to know, if you'd make me the happiest man that will
ever live..." he said slowly and softly taking the ring out of the
box and slipping it on Sheridan's finger. "You mean you--" Sheridan
tried to get out but was about to faint if she didn't kiss him soon.
"I love you, Sheridan Crane." Luis said softly, his face merely
inches from hers. No longer able to resist the temptation, Sheridan
threw her arms around Luis's neck and kissed him with all the
passion she had buried deep inside of her. She knew that would
answer his question.
*End of flashback*
"I love you too, Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald." Sheridan whispered silently
to herself. She could feel Luis's arms around her..in fact, she did
feel his arms around her! "Luis!" she jumped around startled.
"Shh...I'm here now." he said wrapping his arms around her waist.
"But I thought th--" "I got halfway to the police station when I got to the
point of where I couldn't take it anymore. I just had to be with you,
Sheridan. So I called Sam up and told him to find someone else." "Oh Luis.."
Sheridan said wrapping her arms around his neck and resting her head on his
chest. "Now..what was it that you were saying when I got in here..I love you
too, Luis Lopez-Fitzgerald? Well, I love you more than anything on this
earth, Sheridan Lopez-Fitzgerald." They stepped out of the shower and walked
into the bedroom once again. "Now, where were we?" Sheridan murmered against
Luis's lips as he lay on top of her. "I believe we were right about here..."
he grinned kissing her softly at first and then forcefully. She played back
and all that could be heard throughout the night were the sounds of Luis and
Sheridan falling deeper and deeper in love.
The light from the heavens shone into Luis and Sheridan's bedroom through
the window waking her up. She turned to Luis, only to find him gone. 'Happy
anniversary, Sheridan.' she thought to herself. She got up and went
downstairs. "How could you do this to me, Luis?" she said outloud to herself
heading towards the dining room. "Do what to you?" Luis asked throwing his
arms around her waist and pulling her towards him from behind her back.
"Luis!" she screamed turning around. "Why do you always do that to me?" she
finished. Luis just laughed and kissed her softly. "Come on...I want to give
you your present now." he said taking her hands and leading her to the den.
"Luis, you didn't have to buy me any--" "I wanted to." he smiled handing her
a small gold wrapped box. After taking off the wrapping paper she found a
velvet case. She opened it slowly and found a small key. "Luis? What's
this?" she asked holding it in her hand with a puzzled look on her face.
"You mean you don't know? Take a closer look, Sheridan." After a few
minutes, it hit her. The key went to their getaway cabin. "But, Luis.. we
haven't been there in so long because of your work and.." "But
nothing..we're going, tonight." he replied kissing her neck. "Thank you."
she said softly pulling him in for a kiss. "You're most welcome..but where's
my present?" he joked. "Well, if you quit coming up behind me and scaring me
like you always do, maybe you'll get it tonight." she teased. "Happy
anniversary, Sheridan." "Happy anniversary, Luis." they said to eachother
before passionately kissing. Suddenly, the telephone rang breaking off their
kiss. "I'll get it.." Luis said walking towards the phone and picking it up.
"Lopez-Fitzgerald residence." Luis answered to the phone. "Luis, it's Sam."
"Sam, I told you I can't come in today." "I know, you told me that you and
Sheridan are going to go to your cabin tonight, but, Luis, I really need
you. I promise I'll have you back on time so you guys can still go...but we
have a big emergency over here." "Ok, ok...just let me ask Sheridan." Luis
said hesitantly covering his hand over the phone so he could ask Sheridan.
She knew what was going on and her smile once again faded. "Listen,
Sheridan, they'll have me back so we can still go, but..." "I understand.
Good-bye, Luis." "Are you sure?" "Yeh, sure....go ahead. You have to, it's
your job." "I will be back as soon as I can." Luis murmered brushing his
lips against hers. And Sheridan watched Luis walk out the door, again.
(Luis and Sheridan's house) After Luis left, Sheridan walked back upstairs to her bedroom to pack. She felt like she was going by herself. Sure, she was going to see Luis tonight, but she wanted him with her now...she needed him. Suddenly, Sheridan felt awful. Pain from her stomach made her groan. She called and made an appointment with the doctor. There was no point in calling Luis, she had no idea where he was. So instead, she wrote him a little note and sat it on the table next to the door. "Be back soon." she said to herself leaving the house still feeling pains from her stomach.
(Five and a half hours later at the police station) "Good work, Luis..you can go home now. I promise I won't bother you for quite awhile." Sam joked. "Thanks, Sam....I have to get home to Sheridan.." Luis called while running out the door. Luis came home and saw the red light going off and on on the answering machine. He went over to it and heard a message from Sheridan: "Hi sweetie..listen, it got kind of late so I thought it best if you met me here at the cabin. I'll be waiting." Luis looked at the time...9:15 pm was when the message was recorded. It was now 9:30 pm. He threw his suitcase in the car and arrived in front of the cabin at 10:00 pm. Not bad since it was supposed to be an hour drive. He walked in and ran upstairs to the only bedroom of the house...Sheridan and his. The room instantly filled with an aroma of Plumeria. His favorite scent on Sheridan. Sheridan walked out of the bathroom wearing a towel. Luis' jaw dropped at how she could make even a towel look hot on her. They walked towards eachother and shared a romantic kiss that lasted several minutes before Sheridan broke it off. "Luis.." she murmured against his lips. "Yes?" he whispered in her ear. "We should talk..." she said softly into his hair." "We can talk all you want." Luis joked kissing her neck. "But, Luis...I'm--"
(at Luis and Sheridan's cabin)
"We need to talk.." she said softly in his hair. "We can talk all you want."
Luis said kissing her neck. "But, Luis, I'm--" she was cut off by Luis
kissing her passionately. They could talk later. An hour later, Sheridan
layed in Luis's arms in bed. "I love you." he whispered in her ear. "I love
you too." she replied softly. "What did you want to talk about?" Luis asked
kissing her neck once again. "I went to the doctor today.." she replied
weakly in his arms. "You what? Why?" he asked turning her around to face
him. "Luis, he said I'm--I'm pregnant." "You're pregnant?" Luis asked
excitedly. Sheridan nodded with a smile on her face. "We're going to be
parents?" Luis smiled. Sheridan once again nodded and Luis embraced her in
his arms. "Thank you, this has been the best anniversary ever." "I'm just
glad you're happy about it." "Why wouldn't I be? Our love has created a
child, Sheridan." they kissed romantically for a few minutes and Sheridan
fell asleep in his arms.
*Dream*
Sheridan was dreaming back to her and Luis' wedding day. Everything was perfect. They were sharing their first dance to their song.
Everytime our eyes meet
This feeling inside me
Is almost more than I can take
Baby when you touch me
I can feel how much you love me
And it just blows me away
I've never been this close to anyone, or anything
I can hear your thoughts, I can see your dreams
I don't know how you do what you do
I'm so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I wanna spend the rest of my life
With you by my side
Forever, and ever
And every little thing that you do
Baby I'm amazed by you
"Oh Luis, this day has been so perfect." "You made it perfect, Sheridan." "I still can't believe we're married." "Believe it, because it's real." he smiled kissing her softly and continuing to dance with her.
The smell of your skin
The taste of your kiss
The way you whisper in the dark
Your hair all around me
Baby you surround me
Touch every place in my heart
Oh, it feels like the first time everytime
I wanna spend the whole night
In your eyes
I don't know how you do what you do
I'm so in love with you
It just keeps getting better
I wanna spend the rest of my life
With you by my side
Forever, and ever
And every little thing that you do
Baby I'm amazed by you
*End of Sheridan's dream*
She woke up still in Luis' arms. She wanted to stay there forever. She moved his arms down to her stomach. "Good morning." he said lifting up her hand and kissing her wedding ring. "Morning sweetie." she replied turning around and lightly brushing her lips on his. "How would you like to go dancing this evening, Mrs. Lopez-Fitzgerald?" "I'd love to, but I hope you still don't think you can keep up with me in tangoing." she laughed. "We'll just see about that." he grined pulling her closer to him. "What time is it?" Sheridan asked looking at the clock on the wall. It was 1:00 pm. Luis groaned "How about we just stay here all day and skip the dancing?" "Now, Luis, you know how much I love to tango." she smiled pulling him out of bed.
(Later that evening)
"Sheridan, are you almost ready?" "Yes, just a second....ok, I'm coming."
Sheridan stepped out of the bathroom wearing a long red dress with a slit
that went up to her thigh on one side. She wore a 14 carat gold chain with a
diamond pendant necklace that Luis had bought her for her birthday. Her hair
was all fixed up and she was wearing red heels. Luis let out a sigh....she
still took his breath away. "How do I look?" she asked turning around. "You
look beautiful." he sighed taking her hand and pulling her towards him.
Neither of them could wait for the events that would take place that night.
(at the dance)
Luis and Sheridan were having a great time dancing the tango together once
again. Only this time, Luis didn't need a blindfold to kiss and describe
her. The music ended and Luis took her out to the balcony. All the stars
were shining brightly in the heavens above, and they kissed passionately.
Luis then offered to get her something to drink and he left her out on the
balcony. Suddenly, two arms grabbed her from behind. "Luis...I told you to
stop doing that." she said before turning around. "This isn't Luis,
sweetheart." Sheridan turned around to face the person startled. "Beth! What
are you doing here?" "Shut up blondie!" Sheridan, not wanting to upset her
anymore than she already seemed, stopped talking. "You don't deserve to have
that mans child. It was supposed to be me and Luis FOREVER!" "Beth, I--" "I
SAID SHUT UP!" Beth interrupted almost yelling. She threw Sheridan against
the gate of the balcony and leaned her over while pinning her down. "You
don't deserve to be happy..and once you're dead, Luis will need me to
comfort him...and I'll be the one having his baby." "Beth, go to hel.."
"Shut up you stupid sl--" she screamed in her face while beating on her
stomach seconds before being thrown down to the ground by Luis. "You stay
away from her you mad witch!" he yelled as rage came over his face. He then
saw Sherdian sinking down against the balcony gate. Her hands were shaking
and she was holding her stomach with her knees up to her face as she was
staring blankly ahead with tears streaming down her cheeks. "Oh my
God....Sheridan!" he ran over to her. "Are you ok, baby?" he asked picking
her up in his arms. "Luis...the baby...something doesn't feel right..." she
responded weakly. "I'm taking you to the hospital." he told her making sure
Sam had Beth in custidy.
(at the hospital)
"Dr. Russel, is my baby....our baby....going to be ok?" Sheridan asked
hopefully. "We're going to take a few tests and see what they say." Eve
replied. She saw the look of pain in their eyes as Luis held Sheridan's hand
and knelt down beside her. She took this as her cue to leave. "Luis, what if
our baby isn't ok?" "Sshh...it'll be alright, Sheridan." he said softly
kissing her hand. Sheridan saw Luis wipe away a tear from his eye. She
couldn't believe that their baby could have been hurt, or worse....but she
didn't want to think about it. Luis held her hand as she cried until Dr.
Russel came back in.
Dr. Russel had Sheridan preform some tests, with Luis at her side the whole time, and she came back and hour later with the results. Dr. Russel walked into the room holding a folder in her hand. "Sheridan," she started. Sheridan immediatly knew something was wrong. "What? What's wrong with our baby, Eve?" she asked while Luis sat beside her. "I'm afraid we're going to have to take out the baby right away...your baby is d--" "NO! Don't say it!" Sheridan yelled with tears streaming down her face. She collapsed into Luis' arms, who also had tears welled up in his eyes.
(Three months later at the police station)
Sam saw Luis staring blankly at a picture of him and Sheridan on their
wedding day. He walked over to Luis' desk and sat down. "Hi buddy... how's
it going?" Sam asked trying to cheer him up as much as possible. "Oh, um,
fine...thanks." Luis replied snapping back into the present. "How's
Sheridan?" Sam asked biting his bottom lip. Sam saw Luis' face go completely
pale and he knew he had said the wrong thing. "I'm sorry, Luis, I didn't
mean to--" "No, it's ok, Sam, really." Luis responded. "Listen, Luis, why
don't you go on home now?" Sam asked. "Yeh, thanks, I've got a lot on my
mind." "We're all praying for you and Sheridan, Luis.." Sam called out to
Luis who was walking out the door. Sam heard him say thanks.
(At Luis and Sheridan's house)
Luis walked in the door and didn't see Sheridan anywhere. He looked in the
kitchen, the foyer, the den...nothing. He walked upstairs to see Sheridan
looking at pictures. She saw him come in and wiped her face for she had
clearly been crying. She got up and hugged him. "I'm glad you're home.."
Sherdian whispered in his ear. "What were you looking at?" Luis asked
walking over with her to the bed. "Oh, it was nothing--" she said nervously
as she pulled the photo album away from him. "Come on, Sheridan...what were
you looking at?" he asked once again taking it from her. "No, Luis.." she
said in a louder voice trying to take it back from him. Luis was playing
around and keeping her off of him as he opened up the album. And there he
saw the phonograph of their baby...the one they had lost only 3 months ago.
Sheridan slumped back off of Luis and put her head in her hands so Luis
couldn't see her tears. "I'm..I'm sorry, Sheridan." he told her putting the
book down and embracing her in his arms. "Why? Why did this happen to us?"
she yelled as tears rushed down her face. Luis just held her in his arms.
"It'll be alright...I promise you, Sheridan." "Why?" she whimpered against
his chest. "Shh..it wasn't your fault, sweetheart." She didn't want Luis to
let go, but she knew she had to deal with reality sooner or later. Their
daughter, Lily, was gone.
Sheridan had to face reality sometime. Their child, Lily, was gone, and all the tears in the world would not bring her back. "Luis.." she said softly against his chest. "We need to get out...go out somewhere or do something..we can't stay here forever.." Sheridan finished. "Are you sure?" Luis asked her with a sort of faint smile on his face. He had wanted to go away with her for a long time. "Yes, we need to get away from here for awhile." "Ok, how does this sound," he said embracing her in his arms tightly and holding onto her hand. "A nice get away to our house in the mountains?" "Oh, Luis, that's perfect... we haven't been there in forever." "Then it's settled, we're going to go and nothing can stop us." "I love you." she said kissing him softly on the lips. "I love you too." he muttered against hers. Sheridan finally got up (after what seemed an eternity of kissing him...which she had no problem with..lol) to go downstairs and fix dinner. "Want me to help?" he asked with a grin on his face. "Oh, no you don't...I remember last time you tried to cook for me...." she smiled sweetly and let out a laugh. "Who's the one that fixed me a breakfast of scrambled eggs?" he laughed. "Don't push it or you won't be rewarded tonight for being a good boy." "Do we have to wait until tonight?" Sheridan just laughed as he placed his arms around her hips from behind her. She finally pushed him out of the kitchen so she could finish making their dinner. After a long romantic candle lit dinner, which they hadn't done in months, Luis carried her up the stairs and they finally slept in eachothers arms for what seemed like they hadn't done in years.
