Chapter 1
Sheridan sat in her living room going through her mail and one letter in particular caught her intrest. Luis walked into the room just in time to see her shredding the envelope to get to the letter inside of it.
"Calm down Sheridan, I promise that the evelope won't attack you. If you are nice to it, it will be nice to you."
"Oh shut up Luis. I'm just excited. This is a letter from one of my childhood friends; her name is Sami."
"Oh let me guess, she is a billion dollar heiress living on a secluded island in the French Riviera. She just caught the Paris fashion shows and she was writing you to tell you about all of the expensive clothes she bought and all of the men she met." Sheridan looked up from her letter unamused. "You know, one of these days I am going to slap that patroninzing smile off of your face. And for your information Sami is not some heiress living in Europe. Her mother is a psychiatrist and she worked at a hospital in Paris that I happened to be a patient at when I was little. She told me that she had a daughter about my age and introduced us. We became good friends and I haven't talked to her in years. She now lives in Salem with her son Will."
"Salem? Hmm. I went there once when I was just starting out as a cop. There are many fine officers who work down there."
"What a coincidence, Sami's father and uncle are both cops. Her father is Roman Brady and Bo is her uncle."
"I have heard many good things about both of them. So what does her husband do?"
"Oh, she's not married. In fact she has just about as many love life problems as I do. Will's father is her former best friend. They had kind of a one night stand and she got pregnant. The only problem is that she thought the baby's father was the man she was in love with, Austin Reed. And the big problem there was that Austin was her sister's boyfriend. Well about a year and a half later she found out that Will was Lucas' child not Austin's and she decided not to tell either one of them. Well her sister Carrie found out exposed Sami and now Lucas hates her. But he takes really good care of his son. You should see all of the toys that are in Will's room at the mansion." As soon as Sheridan said it she realized she had made a mistake. "Mansion? Oh so this Lucas guy is rich. Well that explains why I don't like him already."
"Ugh! I give up on trying to convince you that not all rich people are bad. But if it is ever a topic on Springer - we are going!"
Luis couldn't help but laugh. "Okay fine you win. So what did Sami say in her letter?"
Sheridan picks up the letter and continues reading. Suddenly a smile crosses her face. "Luis I know that I am not allowed to leave the cottage and see anyone but what if someone comes to the cottage and visits me? Please, please Luis! I haven't seen her in years and she would only be staying for a week. Please?" He slowly lets out a sigh and rolls his eyes. "Well I guess this friend of yours is trustworthy so why not? When does she get here?"
Sheridan jumps up off of the couch and hugs Luis. Then realizing what she has just done she quickly lets him go and steps back. "Well the Titan jet is going to land at the airport tomorrow morning. I can't wait to see her and Will!" And with that Sheridan ran out of the room to begin preparing the cottage for its visitors.
Chapter 2
Sheridan and Luis sat in the Crane Limo patiently waiting for the Titan jet to land. When it did Luis practically had to sprint to catch up with Sheridan. When the steps were moved to connect with the plane, Sheridan ran up them to be the first thing Sami saw when the door was opened. When Sami stepped out she and Sheridan embraced. When they broke apart Sami picked up Will and began to walk down the steps. Just as Sheridan turned to face the stairs a pair of arms snaked around her waist and she felt herself being lifted into the air. When she was once again in contact with the ground she turned to face the person that just did this to her and she slapped his arm.
"Lucas Roberts you could have given me a heart attack."
"Oh calm down Sher it takes a lot more than that to kill you."
Luis just rolled his eyes and mumbled under his breath, "you got that right."
Sami looked Luis up and down. "Gee Sher you didn't mention that you have such hot friends!"
This time it was Sheridan's turn to roll her eyes. "Do I have any friends that think he is not hot?"
Lucas put his arm around Sheridan. "Just for the record, I don't think he's hot. And I would love to finish this conversation but I really have to be on my way to Boston for a meeting. Sami the jet will be back Thursday evening and we will be flying back to Salem Friday morning." He bends down and hugs Will. "Daddy will be back in a few days Will. Be good for Mommy and her friends okay?" Will nods and he hands him to Sami. "Well Sher I guess I will see you Thursday or Friday." He gets back on the jet and everyone else gets into the limo and leaves.
"Sami are you hungry?"
"Yes, I'm starving but right now I need to put Will down for a nap."
They arrive at the cottage and Sami walks into the room Sheridan prepared for her and Will. Will falls asleep really fast and Sami joins Sheridan and Luis in the kitchen.
"So Luis, are you Sheridan's boyfriend?"
"Oh no. I am her bodyguard. I have been assigned by the FBI to stay with her 24/7 though. I am a cop here in Harmony normally." Sami nodded her head. "So, do you have a history of cops in your family or traumatic experience as a child?"
"I guess the experience. Why do you ask?"
"History of cops in my family. So anyway Sheridan what have you been up to?"
"Well other than being hunted by a drug cartel, not much. I was just showing Luis my slides from Spain the other day. And that made me think that I heard someone say you were in Italy a while back."
"Yeah, I went with this creep Brandon. We get half way around the world and I find out that this guy is a total idiot. Luckily I got a hold of Lucas and he came and got me." Luis was stunned. "This guy you hate flew to Italy to come and pick you up?"
"Oh no, he was in Italy at the same time. And we are kinda getting a long now. That is scary!"
"I can't believe you guys didn't ever officially became a couple. I mean the way the two looked at each other, and still do, you could tell that you both had serious feelings for the other one."
"Whatever Sheridan! Look I'm really tired I think I'm going to go to bed now." Sami leaned over and whispered to Sheridan, "well the way I see it, you and Luis both look at each other like that too!" She stood back up and walked into her room. As she closed her eyes she thought to herself, "scheming isn't bad if the two people are actually in love, right?"
